"Umm, Wyatt," Sam started to say and his voice trembled too.

"Now take it easy and listen up," Wyatt told him and pulled his hands to his chest so he could feel how hard and fast his heart was beating. "I know it's already been a crazy, hectic day, but tonight I realized I had to do this before Gloria told the whole town we were getting married and stole my thunder."

"What?" Sam gasped stunned. He couldn't have heard him right. No way.

"I'm proposing," Wyatt stated shattering the last shreds of Sam's sanity.

"Wait. Now? Isn't it too soon?" Sam said, almost pleading with Wyatt.

But Wyatt was decisive. "Not for me." He raised Sam's hands to his lips and kissed them while candlelight glowed in his mesmerizing gaze. "All I need is to look into your eyes and I'm in heaven. How can I doubt something as clear as that? You're the one. I know it."

Sam was ready to throw himself into his arms and just live there, but they couldn't rush ahead like that. Could they? "Why tonight? I mean... I..." Sam didn't know how to wrap his head around something like this. It was too much.

Wyatt was so calm and sure, even if his heart did beat a mile a minute when he pressed Sam's hands to his chest again. "I want to know that you'll be in my life forever. You scared the fuck out of me when you tried to leave. I'm not losing you. I need to know you're mine."

"Yours?" Sam said and he blinked and tried to breathe. "I am but..." he tried to think of what else he wanted to say but nothing came to him. "Wyatt," he said desperately.

"You don't need to answer me yet. I haven't asked you properly." Wyatt got down on one knee and took only one of Sam's hands in his. He kissed it then he spoke with his voice shaking and tears filling his eyes. "You're amazing and every second you take my breath away just being who you are. I love you so much. Marry me so we will always be together and nothing will tear us apart. So will you marry me?"

"OK. I mean yes," Sam stammered. What else could he say as his heart beat out of control, trying to leap out of his chest? He felt kind of lightheaded.

His head was swimming. Was this a dream? He felt like at any moment he might wake up or maybe pass out. Maybe he should breathe.

"How are you doing there?" Wyatt asked him, and Sam had no doubt that he had gone pale. Then he noticed that he was being held in Wyatt's strong arms, and he wondered when that happened.

"Fine. If I pass out on you, don't take it personally," Sam told him.

"Don't pass out. Let's sit down." Wyatt guided him over to the chair. Trying to make Sam sit down, he started to say, "I'll get you some..."

"You," Sam demanded and pulled him closer as he remained standing. "I just need you."

"Same here," Wyatt said and he kissed him lightly like he didn't want to overwhelm him. But Sam needed more. His smile radiant while tears dripped down his flushed cheeks, Sam threw his arms around Wyatt and held on for dear life.

He calmed down a little and the two of them started to sway. There was a breeze that sometimes blew out a candle or two as Sam and Wyatt kissed and danced.

"I owe you champagne," Wyatt told him. "Now let's blow out these candles and go to bed."

"Yes," Sam told him. That's where he wanted to be.

Chapter 37

Falling down on the bed together they only gazed at each other for a long moment. Then Wyatt cupped Sam's face and asked, "So you're all mine forever?"

"Yes, forever," Sam confirmed but the word made him want to cry.

"And I'm yours forever too," Wyatt said and he rolled on top of him. He was gorgeous, and he took Sam's breath away.

"You're a dream. Thanks for coming into my life," Sam told him.

"I'm the one who's thankful for you. You're my beautiful, perfect dream," Wyatt said and he kissed Sam as soon as he opened his mouth to argue with him. Then he continued. "You deserve to be worshiped and adored for the rest of your life. And teased."

Wyatt had such a wicked gleam in his beautiful eyes that Sam had to tell him, "Wyatt, I love you. And I have a feeling we're going to be happy." His words were husky and broken, coming right from his heart.

"No doubt about it," Wyatt said, his full confidence on display.

They made love for so long, Sam didn't think they would get any sleep. Each time he came, Sam felt like he was rising impossibly high, but it was all right. Wyatt was right there with him, sharing his bliss. Incredible pleasure tore through him as he held back screams and only clawed at Wyatt and thanked him wordlessly for every thrust.

Afterward, Sam wrapped his arms around him and leaned his face against his chest. For a moment he just enjoyed the strong beating of Wyatt's heart. It was really fast but it was still nice. Slowly, he ran his hand over Wyatt's arm, then he took his hand and threaded their fingers together.
