Chapter seven

Banshee

Holy fuck, I hadn’t had a hangover this bad since Zeus, Marshal, Hawk, and Doc stole a bottle of whiskey when we were thirteen. My eyes felt like they were going to revolt by jumping out of my sockets to find the nearest pile of hot cat shit to roll in. I wondered if the shit would be from the same cat that seemed to have shit in my mouth. My head pounded so I stopped thinking.

The fucking prospects would have a field day seeing me like this. Assholes. I slid my hand over the bed disappointed when I found Finley’s side cold. Groaning, I headed to the bathroom, taking the longest piss in history. So long, I got bored. When I was finally drained, I climbed into the shower, and after an embarrassing amount of moans I started to feel human. Yeah, I was a fucking immortal giant. It’d take more than a shit ton of shots to put me down.

“Pix, I’m in pain. I need you to make me feel better.” I headed down the stairs ready for breakfast with a side of Finley’s pussy.

The house was eerily quiet when I hit the last step. As I searched for Finley, my apprehension grew with every empty turn. Mumbling, I attempted to calm myself. I tried to convince myself to stop worrying, that she was just hanging out at Clara, or Billie’s house.

Digging my phone out of my discarded jeans I called Zeus.

“Fuck, I feel like shit,” Zeus said when he answered the phone.

“Take a shower old man you’ll feel better. We can’t let these young assholes think they’re in better shape than we are.”

“You’re right. I’ll have to down a bloody Mary before going to the Clubhouse.”

My tongue was itching to ask about Finley, but I let Zeus bitch before asking.

“I’ll bring over some vodka,” I said.

“Hurry, my ass is getting in the shower.”

“Hey, Finley isn’t over there is she?”

Zeus must’ve heard the lack of control I had. “I don’t know. Clara took the baby downstairs to let me sleep. Do you want me to go check?”

“No, get in the shower and I’ll be over with the vodka.”

Zeus sighed, but then said goodbye before hanging up on me. In a rush I got dressed fast, running outside. Halfway to Zeus’ house I remembered the vodka I promised to bring. “Fuck.”

I gritted my teeth, wanting to see Finley. The giant inside of me needed to see her, touch her, and make sure she was okay. I slammed the door, yanking the bottle out of my cabinet, and tried again.

This time I made it all the way to Zeus’ house. My palms were sweaty as I walked into the house. Clara smiled at me, rocking Lilly on the recliner. Her smile faltered when she saw my face. I searched the area, begging Finley to be there. My heart sank when I didn’t see her.

“Is everything all right, Ban?”

My heart was banging against my sternum. I had the urge to beat the shit out of something. Anger pushed through me, but I held it back, not wanting to scare Clara or Lilly.

“Is Finley here?” My voice sounded deep, not like my own.

Clara glanced around the room as if she was looking for Finley, too. “I haven’t seen her today.”

Zeus came downstairs yanking the bottle of vodka from my hand. “Have you called her?”

My fingers flexed in to a fist, and I was sickened when I pictured slamming it into Zeus’ face. What the fuck was wrong with me? He was my friend. He was the president of my club, and even though he was calmed down now that he was married with a kid, he’d still kill me if I raised a hand at him in anger.

His question penetrated the anger clouding me. “I haven’t called her. I was hoping she’d be here.”

Clara stood up, handing the baby to Zeus and taking the vodka out of his hand. “Do you want a bloody Mary?” she asked taking control of the situation.

“I’m good.” I pulled my phone out of my pocket ready to call Finley.

There was a text message on my phone from Finley. I growled as I read it. Sure she said everything was all right and she was just visiting her brother, but my worry didn’t fade.

“She went to talk to Flame. She said she wouldn’t be gone long.”
