“Did you even ask her what happened?”

“She fucking told me she tripped and hit the corner of the wall with her face. You know that’s not true, Stank. He fucking brain washed her, and I need to get her out of a bad situation before it’s too late. I refuse to lose my sister to the Reapers. I don’t care how fucking strong they are.”

“Did you drug her? What the fuck, Flame? You said that you locked her in her room, but drugging her, that’s too much. They’re going to fucking kill you. They’re going to fucking kill us. I do not want to be here when Banshee and the rest of the Reapers show up. You fucked us, Flame.”

I rolled my eyes at Stank’s rambling. There was no way my brother would drug me. He was my protector. He loved me. He may be pissed off that I was with Banshee, but he wouldn’t go so far as to drugging me and locking me away. That was just ridiculous.

“I had to do what I had to do,” Flame said through gritted teeth. His eyes never left my face.

If I had function of my mouth it would be hanging open, before I screamed at him for being the stupidest asshole on the planet. Banshee was going to kill him when he found out what he did to me, and I didn’t think Banshee’s love for me would be enough to stop him from murdering my dumb fuck brother. Right now I was just hoping I didn’t drool all over myself. When I had my functions back, I was going to beat the shit out of my brother. Hell, I might even kill him before Banshee had a chance to do it.

How the fuck could my brother drug me? My fuzzy mind wouldn’t let me scream at him, it also wouldn’t let me come to terms that my brother had lost his fucking mind.

“You’re an idiot, Flame. The Reaper’s Rebels are going to kill you, if the Outsiders don’t get to you first. We trusted you, and you let us down. The Reaper’s Rebels were going to accept us. We were going to make a shit ton of money, and they’d keep us safe from the cops. You need to pull your shit together. It’s not just you you’re making these decisions for.”

Flame turned, slamming his fist into Stank’s face. Blood splattered out of his nose, some of it landing on my hand. I couldn’t even move it to wipe it off, I thought with disgust.

“Fucking, dumbass. I’m out of here.” Stank covered his nose with one last pitying. He stomped out of my room, leaving me alone with Flame.

“What did you do?” My words were slurred as I forced them out. I thought they were getting stronger at the end, but that might have been hopeful thinking. I was using the anger burning through me to get past the drugs running around inside of me.

Flame glared at me, his jaw ticking from side to side. “I’m keeping you safe.”

“He’s going to kill you.”

“Not if I kill him first.”

My heart was splitting in two. The two men I loved most in this world would never see eye to eye. I was certain in the end I was going to lose one of them, and I wanted to vomit at the thought. There was no way this was going to end well. I grew up with bikers, I knew how they worked. And killing was the easiest way to fix a problem. And bikers were problem solvers.

“Please, Flame.” I lifted my head off the pillow, but it was as if there was a magnet on the back of my head pulling me right back down into the pillow.

“You need to rest. I may have slipped you more than I should have,” Flame said, his eyes filled with worry. But I knew it was worry about me, and not the fact that he just signed his death certificate.

Tears leaked down my face and Flame wiped them off for me. The gentleness of his finger was my brother, but I knew the person in front of me had lost his fucking mind. He sat on the side of the bed as I silently cried myself back to oblivion.

I hoped I’d get to see Flame one last time before Banshee got to him.
