“I love her. I wouldn’t do anything to hurt her.”
“So does that mean, not killing her older brother?”
Flame seemed to look at me for the first time. He leaned against the kitchen counter as he studied me. His face was bloody and bruised, and I relished in his obvious pain. But he reminded me of Finley.
Fuck, I wasn’t going to kill him. Shit, Finley was making me soft.
“Listen, I don’t like you, in fact I wish one of those bullets would’ve found its way into your skull. But Finley loves you. And I don’t want to hurt her so I’ll tolerate you if you can promise me the same. I also suggest getting the Outsiders under the Reaper’s Rebels, and never fuck us over.”
Flame nodded his head. “I just wanted to keep her safe. I knew I shouldn’t have done what I did, but I just wanted her safe. It was so fast, and I’m sure she told you about our mom. Finley is the only family I have, and I love her.”
“Same,” I answered with a deadly calmness.
“Fuck, welcome to the family.” Flame put his hand out, and I shook it with reluctance, repeating Finley’s name over and over again as I made peace with her brother.
“I’m taking Finley home. Where she’ll be safe and where she’ll remain.”
Flame bristled at the insult but kept his mouth shut.
“I’ll let Zeus know that the Outsiders are in.”
We nodded at each other before I went back into the living room to retrieve my woman.
