“Oh, I know you can,” I answered with a wink of my own.

Okay, so I was already dangerously close to breaking one of my own rules, but to see the look of shock on Vera’s face was totally worth it.

I turned around without another word and we made our way over to our side of the court.

Blair smiled and nudged me. “I’m glad you guys could make it, babe. I’ve missed you.

“I’ve missed you, too.”

“They’re so going to lose right?”

I laughed and nodded. “Oh, definitely.”

I did some light stretching before asking Drea and Vera if they were ready. I made sure to touch my toes for a little longer than was necessary, hoping Vera might’ve been watching me. When I came back up, I noticed I was right and tried not to smile.

I rolled my shoulders and gave the first serve of the game, which Drea bounced back to our side of the net.

No one scored a point for the first five minutes until finally Vera’s last swing actually caused my brain to short circuit and miss the ball. Okay, so this was the top terrible idea of the day.

It was those damn arms. It wasn’t my fault I was having sexual PTSD. Was that even a thing? If not, it was now. Every time I saw a muscle in those arms twitch, I had flashbacks to our night together, and my thighs started sweating. That’s what I told myself, anyway. I wasn’t so easy that I got that turned on by a pair of biceps. I wasn’t.

I shook my head and readied myself to serve the ball. I needed to pull it together. I couldn’t be focusing on any part ofVera right now. I needed to focus on the ball and winning. That’s it.

“You doing okay over there? I don’t want you to slip and hurt yourself on your own drool.”

I let the ball drop to the floor and turned to Blair who was looking at me with the widest grin on her face.

“What?” I was not drooling over Vera.

“Oh come on, babe. I think it’s cute you can’t stop staring at your girlfriend. Even I can admit she is easy on the eyes, and the arms, and?—”

“And you’re marrying one of my closest friends, pervert. Stop staring at Vera.”

“I am indeed. I’m allowed to look. Drea has too, it’s okay. We’re both very confident in our relationship. She can look as long as the only ass she touches is mine, and same goes for her. Besides, no one can do the things she can do. Especially over a?—”

“Please, I am begging you. Do not finish that sentence. I love you both, so fucking much, but I do not need a mental image of either one of you in any position.”

She shrugged. “Don’t be a hater. I’m sure you end up in all kinds of positions with that one. Those arms look like they could take you to new heights.”

Her laugh was menacing, but my blush was unmistakable. She probably thought it was from embarrassment, but it was not at all. It was from thinking of what those positions would look like, and where they would be.

“So, tell me how this happened again? Don’t get me wrong, I’m super happy for you. It’s just… I’m having a hard time understanding. You’ve never dated someone like Vera, and always swore you never would. Yet here you are, bringing her to my wedding and drooling over her.”

Shit. I hadn’t expected her to call me out so soon in our ploy. I needed to come up with something to say that was believable.

“First of all, I wasn’t drooling.” I definitely was drooling, but I mean, come on. I couldn’t help it. Her arms were calling to me, and I had to hear what they had to say.

“Second of all. People can change. Did you forget who you’re getting married to? The person you hated for the past five or so years?”

“Fine. Fine. I see your point. Speaking of, serve the ball please. I’m afraid my fiancée will start shit talking us if you don’t, and I really don’t want to hear it.”

I grinned, happy to have averted the conversation. Drea and Vera were now looking at us with inquisitive expressions, and I waved before serving the ball.

At the end of the game we won by a landslide and tried not to rub it in their faces. We were respectful, after all, and it wasn’t about winning.

“What was that about needing equal muscle on each side, baby?” Blair teased. Okay, so some of us cared about winning.

“I’m sorry, love. Good game.” Drea brought Blair in for a hug and she accepted Drea’s kiss with a smile.
