Eden chuckled. “I do like her, but no sparks yet. Her aunt and uncle own the place. They were really nice and encouraged us to dance.”
Randi smiled. “I guess the pitch event was successful. You had three dates this week and liked them all.”
“Yeah, but I don’t want to talk about me.”
“What!” Randi exclaimed. “What have you done with my best friend?”
“Ha ha.” Eden smirked then laughed. “I want to know what’s going on with Cari. Are you her team leader?”
“That sounds more like you want to know what’s going on withme.”
Eden was ready to pull out all the stops in an effort to keep Randi at HLR. She’d bring the coffee every morning, buy lunch, stay late, and help her—anything so Randi would stay.
“If she finds out that you don’t actually work at HLR she may change her mind,” Eden said. “Even if we teach her how to two-step.”
“Funny you should bring that up,” Randi said. “I wondered why you or Analise didn’t mention it once during the week.”
“You know why! We want you to stay.” Eden stared into Randi’s serious face then saw mischief dancing in her green eyes.
“I told Cari to come in on Monday and we’d outline the first steps in her ad campaign,” Randi said.
Eden sucked in a hopeful breath as a smile grew on her face. “Does that mean?”
Randi nodded. “I am now employed by Hook, Line & Reader. Analise and I still?—”
Eden jumped up and threw her arms around Randi’s neck, stopping her mid-sentence. “You’ve made me so happy!”
Randi laughed as they held each other for a moment.
“As I was saying, Analise and I still have to work out the details, but I loved working with you and Analise this week.”
“What did I tell you! I knew you would!”
“Don’t be like that,” Randi warned. “You’re not an I-told-you-so type of person.”
“Now we really have something to celebrate,” Eden said, widening her eyes. “Did you drive or take a ride share?”
“I drove.”
“I think I’ve had enough of crowds for the night. How about you?” Eden asked.
Randi nodded.
“Why don’t you take me home and we can snuggle up on the couch and watch the latest episode ofThe Traitors,” Eden said. “I have your favorite beer in the fridge.”
Randi chuckled. “That’s a celebration that has Randi and Eden written all over it.”
Eden grinned. “I know my best friend and she knows me.”
They left the bar and Randi pulled out of the parking lot. “Who do you have a date with this weekend?”
“You,” Eden replied.
“Me?” Randi glanced over at her.
“Yep.” Eden smiled at her. “I’ve had enough dates this week. I need a Randi weekend.”
“I have to work this weekend,” Randi said.
