“Oh, come on, get a room.”
Adam sighs, and his head falls back. “We got a house.”
“Well, then wait for us to leave.”
Adam looks back to me with his head cocked. It’s sayingI told you sobecause he knows better than to voice it.
I shrug him off with a smile. I don’t care at all that we got caught. I care more that it ended.
“I figured you wouldn’t be one to judge, Beck.” I stand up and off Adam. “Jensen’s mentioned many public outings for you two.”
Beck holds his hand out. “Hey, hey, I’m not judging, but we do have a question because I’m pretty sure Tripp and I just fucked up the crib.”
“For Christ’s sake,” Adam grumbles, getting off the floor. “Didn’t you help put together the cribs for the twins?”
“Yeah, that took us nearly all day, so quit your bitching, we’re only an hour in.” Beck nods to me. “Also, Emma has a question for the design on the wall.”
Adam wraps one arm around my waist. “Alright, we’ll be there in just a second.”
Beck smirks. “Should I close the door, or…”
“Nah, I want more than a second for that.”
Beck points at us as he backs out of the bathroom. “That’s what I like to hear.”
Once he walks out of view, Adam spins me around in front of him. The movement must wake up the little munchkin, and she rolls around in my stomach. Taking Adam’s hand, I put it right where she turned.
“Oh, come on,” I say as all movements cease. She’s really starting to get more active, but I feel like Adam rarely gets to feel it.
He bends down toward my stomach. “What are you doing in there, baby girl?”
“Napping, apparently,” I grumble.
“It’s okay, honey.” Adam chuckles. Leaning back up, he gives me a quick kiss. “How was your meeting?”
“Really good. Wren even said she might help me at Winedown while I’m on maternity leave.”
“That’s great…right? Your face isn’t looking too excited about it.”
I blink. “No, I am. I mean, if I do hire anyone, I’d want it to be her.”
Adam nods. “So, it’s you not actually wanting help.”
“I—” All arguments seem to fall out of my head, and I snap my mouth shut.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought. Mia, honey, it’s okay to accept help. Especially from the people who want to help.”
“I know…Winedown is just my baby, but now that I’m actually having one…” I let out a sigh. “I just think I can handle both.”
Adam runs his hands softly across my bump. “You can handle anything. That, I’m sure of. We can talk about more later—there’s no need to make a decision right now.”
“What we need to decide on is a baby name. My mom has asked me every day this week. She’s starting to plan the baby shower, and she’s convinced it’s a requirement.”
“Not sure if this helps or hurts, but she had your dad ask me about it, too.”
Dear Lord, that woman is relentless. “What about Ruby?”
Adam’s eyebrows pinch together.
