“What the hell?” Blinking up at him, my eyebrows scrunch together.

He huffs as we reach the outside of the locker room. “Wait here a minute.” He demands, opening the door and disappearing inside.

As I’m contemplating whether to walk away or not, the door opens again revealing Greyson. He takes my tote bag off my shoulder, and I look at him even more confused than I was before as he places it onto his own shoulder.

“Arms up.” He demands.

Huh?

ButI don’t even think, I lift my arms into the air and he’s pulling a sweater I hadn’t even noticed he was holding over my head.

I glance up looking at him to see he’s already looking at me with an unfamiliar look in his eyes. Clearing his throat, he hands me over my bag, and I thank him as I take it from him.

“I hope you know you’re never getting this back.” I smirk, lifting the sweater from my stomach and ruffling it to further prove my point.

“Yeah, I kinda guessed that,” he chuckles. “Looks better on you anyway.”

My cheeks flush, and I chew at my lip to fight back a smile. “Anyway,” I awkwardly say, shuffling my feet. “I better go get set up for the interview with Felix.”

“Yeah, of course,” he nods, running a hand across the nape of his neck. “Uh…did you maybe want to come over tomorrow?” He asks, nerves evident in his voice. “I mean, you don’t have to—”

“What time?” I cut him off.

“Any time after three?”

“Five?” I suggest.

He nods. “That works.”

“Okay, great,” I smile, slowly taking a step back.

“Wait!” Greyson steps forward and takes a hold of my hand. “Do you, uh…do you need a ride home after the interview with Felix? I don’t mind waiting around for you.”

Smiling, I shake my head. “I’ve got my car today, but thank you for offering.”

“Okay,” his thumb soothes patterns across my hand before releasing it. “See you tomorrow, Lilly.”

“Tomorrow.” I confirm with a smile, before turning and walking away.

Chapter 19

Lilly

When I arrive home after interviewing Felix, and going to my one and only lecture of the day, which seemed to drag, I kick the door shut with my foot and place my keys into the ceramic bowl.

As a house of four girls we’re somehow always losing our keys and blaming one another for it, so Payton came up with the genius idea of keeping them all in one place—which so far has worked perfectly.

Sliding my shoes off, I hang my bag up on the hook by the front door and make my way toward Callie’s bedroom with a bouquet of hydrangeas in hand that were sitting on the doorstep when I arrived home.

Knocking on her door, I shift on my feet as I wait for her response. “One second!” She shouts from the other side. Hearing a bunch of commotion, I give a questionable look to her door before it flies open, revealing her looking very…flustered.

“Am I interrupting something?” I ask, peering over her shoulder to see if anyone is in the room with her.

“Actually, yes you were.”

“Oh, I can come—”

“Well, I’m glad one of us can,” she grumbles, pulling the tie from her robe around her waist. “Anyway, what’s done is done,” shrugging, she opens her door wider. “What’s up?”
