I swatted him, and he retracted, laughter puffing in his cheeks.

“I could die tomorrow, and you don’t want to kiss me?” Embarrassment took over my body, and I shifted backward, hitting the horn and turning on the wipers.

“Dammit.” I shifted, attempting to fix it, but the brights went on, then off, and then back on again. I wasn’t even sure what the next button did.

“Stop touching shit,” he growled, leaning over me to correct the mess I’d made.

“Do you know how much bravery I had to muster to do that? Seven Slayer songs worth!” I shoved him in the chest.

“Say that seven times fast,” he grinned, but I only pushed him again. “What do you want, Daphne, a cookie?”

I scrunched my nose.

“You will not die tomorrow!”

“How do you know?” I arched a brow. “Because it feels like I will.”

“Daph.” He swept my hair to the side and smiled.

“Don’t do that?” I glared before swatting him away. “You just slept six hours with your dick against me.”

He smirked, and I hated how hot he was in the half-light.

“That is because being naked with you is my favorite.”

“But you won’t kiss me?”

“Nope.” He bit his bottom lip, the cage of his chest locking into place.

“Never?” I asked, and Thay bristled, rolling his neck away from me.

“Not like this,” he corrected, picking me up by the hips and plopping me back into the passenger seat. “I tell you what, I’ll kiss you when you get home, but only if you make it the full two months and don’t die. Deal?”

I glared, shoving my seatbelt into its slot with a definitive scowl. Thay watched in amusement, and before he could laughin my face, I reached forward and turned the music all the way up.

Threx: Window Promises

Daphne clung to the window, chewing on the side of her cheek the way she always did when she was nervous. Damn, she looked pretty in that dress, all soft like summer in the middle of a rainstorm, even if she was pissed at me, embarrassed that I did not kiss her. Broken because I didn’t beg her to stay.

The one thing I could always count on was her belief that I did not want her that way. I knew it was an asshole move, but it was the only thing that kept her from dying in the Underworld, or becoming some clubwife whose sole purpose was to suck her man’s dick and be happy about it. I took orders to keep her safe, not to fuck her up even more.

“It’s cold,” she turned on the heat.

She couldn’t know how I really felt, though if she sidestepped her insecurities for one damn second, I was sure she would sense it in the air. The way every inch of me was in flames, burning like a goddamn brush fire in the middle of August. How my mind was screaming at me to chain her in my dungeon and fuck her until she promised never to leave me again.

Because this was going to be bad.

And I don’t mean like,oh shit, the girl on my dick has never given a blowjob before, bad. I mean the kind where you stop listening to your head, and just sit there while your fucking soul tears everything apart.

“I guess we’re here,” she mouthed against the window, watching the patterns of rain drip off the tinted glass. “Though… we’ve never been here before.”

The demon inside me flinched, hungry and violent, scraping at me to hold on.

“Think about it this way. It’s only eight Saturdays,” I teased through a smile, straining to keep my eyes clear.

“I don’t understand how you are so calm right now,” she snapped, her gaze falling to her knees.
