"I smell smoke," Fraser said in a low tone.

"And roasting rabbit," another man said.

Colin drew in a deep breath. "I smell it, too." Confidence arose within him. "That has to be them. They're close by."

"Are they truly daft enough to think we can't follow their scent?" Cyrus asked.

"Might be a trap." Colin's instincts rose to high alert.

As their eyes adjusted to the low light, they carefully picked their way along the trail, avoiding fallen tree branches and loose stones.

Soon they saw the firelight glowing in the distance. They approached cautiously, weapons drawn, glancing all about them.

When Colin had a clear view of the campfire, he saw the silhouette of a small form lying on the ground in front of it, unmoving. He took a step forward. "Kristina!"
