"I'm good at keeping secrets, but I would love to tell Gavin. He'll be so excited."

"You can tell him, but he must promise not to tell anyone else."

Dani nodded.

As they set out toward Farspag Tower, Cat rode pillion on a cushion behind Torr and held on tightly. One of the burly guards had helped Aggie onto his mount while Finnian traveled on the mare, Rosie.

At the beginning of the journey, Cat's home seemed hundreds of miles away, and she simply enjoyed touching and embracing Torr. But as the day wore on, she recognized familiar mountains, lochs, and other landmarks that dimmed her mood. Passing through the village didn't help either.

Her stomach ached with each step the horses took toward Farspag. She prayed they would find Brodie quickly and that he would give his blessing for her and Torr to marry. Plus, she wished to help him throw off the evil bewitchment that imprisoned him.

The queasy feeling in the pit of her stomach told her things would not go well. The thick, foreboding clouds blanketing the sky further darkened her mood.

Might they be lucky enough to find Brodie at the castle when they arrived? Would the hateful beast MacPeter still be there? When she imagined a fight breaking out between him and Torr, her stomach dropped. She knew Torr was a strong, skilled warrior and that he could best MacPeter. But the brute had dozens of his own clansmen to back him up, and they would not fight fair.

A whiff of the salty ocean breeze reached her before Farspag came into view on the bleak clifftop in the distance. The scent of home was no longer reassuring. Instead, it filled her with dread.
