Then, she stopped and typed out a text to Rebel. “You can take me to dinner to celebrate my new job!!!” Her finger hovered over the send key, then she deleted the text.

He can wait.

She had a ton of things to do before Wednesday, so after booking a roundtrip flight to Denver, she made a list on her phone.

- Sell car and motorcycle

- Pack

- Call landlord

- Contact my art agent

With excitement whizzing through her, she hurried upstairs to get dressed.

My entire life is about to change.

Joaquin

Day one,ALPHA.

In her office, Providence scanned Rebel’s retina, giving him full access to the building, set his Welcome Bag on her desk, along with a Kevlar vest.

“What’s your cover?” Providence asked.

“Nightclub and hotel owner,” he replied. “People are either interested in hearing about my upscale hotel or my sex-fueled kink club.”

She laughed. “Since ALPHA and BLACK OPS don’t exist, you need an alias.”

“Bob Jones.”

“We’ll be fake siblings because I’m Elaine Jones. Give me two minutes and I’ll have your new IDs.”

While waiting, Rebel checked his phone. To his disappointment, Brit hadn’t replied to his text.

“Did you turn in your Glock?” Providence asked.

“I will when I resign.”

After placing his new government-issued IDs in his Welcome Bag, she pulled out a burner and a Glock. “Use these for work. Neither are traceable back to ALPHA.”

Next, she passed him off to Cooper who introduced him to everyone he didn’t already know, walked him over to the Internet Team, then showed him around the lab.

After that, they drove to BLACK OPS. Cooper brought him into the conference room where Stryker, Jericho, Hawk, and Prescott were waiting.

After Cooper closed the door behind him, Hawk said, “Welcome to therealparty.”

“Took you long enough,” Jericho added.

After hearty handshakes all around, Cooper turned the meeting over to Rebel.

“I’m building a rescue team for Black OPS,” Rebel began. “Who’s in?”

“I am,” Prescott said. “Whatever you need, brother.”

“We’ve been through the trenches together, so you didn’t have a choice, Armstrong,” Rebel replied.

“I’m in,” Hawk replied.
