“We can walk to the surprise,” Z said.

He led the way toward “M” Street. Despite the brisk winter weather, the Georgetown sidewalks were packed with pedestrians.

Addison looped her arm through Brit’s.

“That was some news, huh?” Addison whispered.

“You do know she’s dead to me,” Brit replied.

“I think we owe it to ourselves to meet her,” Addison said. “Aren’t you curious?”

“Curious about what? She ran off with a cult leader.” Brit’s phone buzzed in her winter coat. She read the text.

“Thinking about you,” Rebel texted. “You doing okay?”

Addison peered over.

“Stop reading my texts,” Brit said with a smile.

“He’s one of my absolute favorite people,” Addison whispered. “Are you seeing him later?”

Before turning the corner, Z glanced back at them. “Don’t fall behind, girls.”

Down “M” street he walked, but waited for them before crossing 31stStreet. Then, he pulled to a stop in front of a closed storefront. He keyed his way inside, turned on the lights, and swung the door wide.

“Come in, girls,” he said.

The space smelled of new construction and fresh paint. The neutral gray walls made the white molding pop. Other than a counter on one side, the space was open.

Z took off toward the back of the room. “Follow me.”

They hurried to catch up as he opened a door in the back. “A restroom.” He shut the door, opened a different one, and walked in.

“This is a break room. There’s storage in the back, along with the emergency exit.”

“What is this?” Brit asked.

“I bought an art gallery,” he exclaimed.

“An art gallery?” Brit blurted.

“What are you going to do with an art gallery?” Addison asked.

“I’m going to display my daughters’ artwork.”

The shock on Addison’s face was the exact same way Brit felt.

“Grand opening in a week.” Their dad beamed at them.

What is happening?

“You can’t be serious, Dad,” Addison pushed back.

“Britain, your agent is shipping me everything that was on consignment in Denver,” he said. “Nicholas gave me everything of yours, Addison.”

“My husband’s in on this?” Addison blurted.

With a smile, Z said, “Welcome to Two Sisters.”
