“Carrera, Luciano Santini is headed up the walkway,” said the computer.

“I’ll let him in on my way downstairs.” Slash made her way to the front door. After she opened it, Luciano stepped inside.

“I like seeing you here all the time,” Luciano said. “Is my cousin treating you like a queen?”

That made Slash smile. “He is.”

“Are you going for a run?”

“Downstairs to lift. I need specs on that job you told me about.” She was referring to Elwood Tosh, the foster-care monster.

“We’ll talk after dinner,” Luciano said.

“Jazz is here, so now is better,” Slash pushed.

“There were numerous complaints filed against Tosh, but he denied them,” Luciano murmured. “He went off the grid for a while, moved back a year ago. He lives in Springfield, and he’s mooching off some woman who didn’t foster kids, but he’s got her doing it. He used to foster teens, now they’re between nine and twelve.”

“Ohgod,” Fury made her blood boil. “That makes me sick to my stomach.”

“He’s using two different aliases. AJ Allen and Jason Mullen.”

“How is he getting away with this? Isn’t Family Services verifying?”

“He has no criminal record, the kids are too terrified to say anything, especially now.”

“Address?”

Luciano rattled it off.

Carrera’s dress shoes clicked on the marble floor, the air crackling with energy the closer he got.

Carrera pulled his cousin in for a bro-hug. “What’s the word?”

“He’s prepping me on Elwood Tosh,” Slash said.

After Luciano finished briefing them, Slash retreated downstairs to work out. As she was finishing up, Carrera trotted down wearing nothing but a pair of workout shorts. A groan ripped from her throat as she drank him in.

Solid, defined muscleseverywhere. A rock-solid chest with perfect pecs, eight-pack abs that made her fingers tingle, and thick, striated thighs she could gawk at for days. But it was his bulging biceps that she melted over… every damn time.

All muscle, all man, all mine.

She sauntered close, curled her hands around his biceps. “You got some serious guns on you.”

He wrapped his hands around her arms. “So do you.”

He kissed her. She kissed him back.

“I’m going for a run,” she said.

“I’ll go with,” he replied.

“Stay and workout.”

His sad face made her smile.

“I’ll have my phone and my switchblade. You know my route. Back in twenty.”

She let her lips linger on his before she broke away.
