I pocket my phone because this is getting stupid.
At almost eleven, Garrett arrives. He looks like shit. Red eyes, rumpled clothes, like he didn’t sleep.
“Sorry,” he says, not sounding sorry. “Overslept.”
“No problem,” Owen says. “We’re just getting started. Want a drink?”
“Yeah.”
Garrett grabs a whiskey and drains it in one go. Okay then.
I stay on the edges. Being charming when someone talks to me. Being helpful when someone needs something. Watching Garrett drink steadily by the window.
