Jo

Blinding pain radiatedthrough me as I hit the floor, my hand immediately flying to where I’d been shot.Dom was shouting something, his eyes wild as he looked around the room and then looked at me.I couldn’t hear anything he said over the ringing in my ears.

I wanted to tell him it was okay and not to worry, but my eyes fluttered shut before I could say anything.

Twenty-Eight

Dom

Ineeded to check onJo as much as I needed to find the asshole who did this to her.She laid on the floor, bleeding as I tried to force myself to figure out what to do.Between the two of us, she was the one actually equipped to handle a medical emergency.I had some experience, but it was mostly with sewing myself up after getting into shit I should have stayed out of.Dealing with someone who had been shot and whom I wanted to save was a whole different story.

I rushed to the bathroom and grabbed as many towels as I could as I dropped to my knees beside Jo and started putting pressure on the wound.I couldn’t see how bad it was through all the blood, but it was close enough to her heart that I was beside myself with worry.

I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket and quickly pressed buttons until Axel’s name showed on the screen.
