He was so worn out from loving that if he lifted his hand, it flopped right back down on the bed, his muscles utterly spent from what he and Lachlan had gotten up to for…

The last eight hours.

Lachlan’s gorgeous platinum scales looked a bit dull, and his wings drooped. He had really exerted himself on Kieran’s behalf, and it had worked.

The fire of his heat was burned out, he thought. And a day or so early, at that.

He spread a hand over his belly. He had a feeling that what they had done had planted the seed. That it had worked.

Another baby, this one with his dear Lachlan, adored and protected, rejoiced over. No fear. No fury.

Home and love and hope.

He couldn’t wait for Micah to be a brother. He couldn’t wait to see Lachlan’s face when their two children were together and they had things like holidays, family events like birthdays, and just everyday wonderfulness.

A soft knock sounded at the door and Lachlan sat up, his wings folding on his back as he slipped out of the bed and put on a pair of squishy pants. He went to answer the door, turning before he did to make sure Kieran was covered up, which was very sweet of him.

Alban stood at the door, Micah tucked into one arm. “Hi. I didn’t want to bother you, but I brought you a little cart of food so you guys could eat, and maybe Micah could sit with you for a little while? He’s not as fussy as he was, but I think he’s missing you.”

Kieran’s cheeks went hot. “Of course! Oh, goddess. Alban, I’m so sorry.”

Lachlan scooped up the baby, nuzzling him and making him squeal with the soft stubble rubbing his face.

“Nonsense. You’re fine. I just know you’d want to see him.”

“Thank you so much, Alban. For the food as well.” Lachlan’s belly growled like it was a wild animal.

“Of course. Mating dragons need their sustenance.”

Lachlan brought him Micah, then wheeled over the cart with eggs and bacon, pancakes, toast, fruit salad and hashbrowns.

“Oh.” He sat up, holding Micah close and nuzzling his hair. “That smells amazing.”

“Alban outdid himself. This is wondrous.”

“It is so amazing. Hand me a piece of bacon, stat.” He was ravenous, and he didn’t think he could control himself. He might just have to nibble on Micah a little bit.

As if the baby had heard his thoughts, Micah started giggling.

He offered Micah a bite of eggs, the baby snapping them up. “Da!”

“Yes, love. Did you have fun cooking with Alban?”

“Bahn!”

“He’s very good at cooking, isn’t he?” He gratefully nibbled at the bites of bacon and pancake Lachlan fed him in turn. It felt like every bite dropped right to the bottom of his belly.

He was starving to death.I think this is the best bacon on earth.

It’s so good. There’s a lot, so eat up.

Are you eating? He had yet to see Lachlan take a bite.

Yes, love. I’ve had two pancakes already.

Oh.He blushed dark, but grinned with pleasure. They’re good too.

They really are.Lachlan settled closer on the bed. “Here, Micah. Say ah.”
