Kieran nodded. “I know that, love. Come upstairs. Bryant will be here and asleep soon.”

He let Kieran take his arm and lead him to the stairs, both of them thanking Alban once more before they stumbled up to their rooms. Kieran let him finish his sandwich and drink before tugging him to the shower.

The water was hot, and the hands adoring him were hotter, burning as they loved on him. Kieran cared for him so well, and he knew his mate was just as tired, his belly still a tiny bit queasy some days, his hormones running wild. But he was there for Lachlan in all ways.

“I love you.”

“I know. I love you too. My poor overworked dragon.”

“Mmmm. And you’ve been busy too. Warding a wing and growing a new dragon are both hard magical work.” Though his was far less involved.

“It is, but good work. Jake and Bea are taking the next shift?”

“They are, and Logan will be going in and out. He’s been resting a little bit more so he could do that. And Mariposa and Amber are helping. You know how they are.” He leaned on the shower wall, propping them up under the hot spray.

“Perfect. I will sleep with you, we’ll eat and love on our son, and you’ll feel better.”

“I will.” Lachlan reached up to touch Kieran’s cheek. “Are you well, love?”

“I am. I’ve been hanging out with Lars and resting, playing with the babies.” Kieran kissed him. “Worrying about you.”

“Well, here I am.” He smiled, or at least he tried to. His eyes kept crossing.

“You’re going to have to rest, love. I’ll hold down the fort. I swear.”

“I don’t want you overdoing it.”

Kieran was healthy, his pregnancy proceeding well, but he had a lot on his plate with Micah and the other guardian mates and children.

“I won’t. We’re going to have a long sleep, some good food. You’re going to play with Micah.”

“Okay, love.” He smiled, making sure Kieran got clean, too, loving the feel of his mate. “My fierce one.”

“That’s me. Protecting my family with everything I am.”

“I’m so glad. I adore that.” They got the water off, then staggered out to dry off like a three-legged race was on.

Soon enough he was cuddled in bed with his mate, heavy and snuggled in. Kieran covered them with softy blankets, draping over him too, and they both sighed.

The world fell away, and he was sleeping hard.

When he woke up hours later, Micah was playing peek a boo with Lachlan’s wing.

“Pook-a-bee!” Micah sang, and Kieran chuckled.

“Peek-a-boo, baby!”

“Oops-a-baby, boo!”

Lachlan rumbled with laughter, sweeping his wing over Micah. “Oh no! Where did he go?”

“Pook-a-pook-a! Eee!” Micah’s laughter was pure joy. “Papa! I here!”

He lifted his wing, grinning down at Micah. “There you are, my little hero.”

“He-wo!” Micah grabbed him and hugged him tight. “Luff Papa!”

“I love you, little one. Have you been playing with Kaden?”
