I chuckled and managed to take a step back. “Yeah…”

My fingers twitched with the need to pull him into my arms again; to drag him back to my hotel and spend the evening mostly inside him.

He fell silent for several seconds, seemingly listening, then pecked my lips again. “That helped,” he breathed.

“Yeah…”

He swallowed, straightened his suit jacket, and took several steps away.

I took several deep breaths, noting how his scent filled the space, then followed his lead and started looking around the spacious lobby.

The building was as stunning inside as it was out. A wrought-iron staircase was at the far end of the room. Plush—and very expensive-looking—couches offered ample seating, while several round tables appeared to provide space for discussions.

“Were those meeting rooms I saw?” Connie asked as she returned.

“Oh,” Flynn replied with a chuckle. “Yes. I tend to forget about those since we rarely used them. The upstairs rooms tended to be available.”

“Shall we start there, then?”

I glanced over as he shrugged. “Sure.”

He started toward the semicircular reception desk, and I followed.

I couldn’t help but appreciate the view of his ass.

We rounded the desk, and I noted the restrooms, then several glass-paneled rooms beyond.

“These are the small rooms,” Flynn said. “They each hold four to six people.”

My mind started to race as I looked into the first and noted the small digital whiteboard and wood with resin river table. While I hadn’t met with Alan yet to discuss the businesses he was looking at for us, the rooms seemed the perfect size for small client meetings.

There were two rooms along the side, then one at the end of the hall, and with a cursory glance, I decided they were about the same.

“Is the furniture for staging?” Connie asked.

“Actually…” Flynn started, rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s for sale. We’ve left it for staging, but if you see anything you want, let me know. My bosses would prefer not to have to send more than necessary to disposal.”

I blinked as I looked at the furnishings again. The tables looked expensive, and the chairs were a known top-of-the-line brand.

Hell… even if I ended up not liking the building, I’d take the furniture if the price was right.

“Shall we?” Flynn asked as we stood in the hall outside the small meeting rooms.

“Sure,” Connie replied. “Now, William mentioned some building modifications?”

Flynn nodded. “Yeah. The biggest one is this way.”

He led us back into the lobby, then into a wide hall.

I froze at the sight of a thick metal door and a security scanner.

I didn’t know what was making my heart race more: the scent of my mate or what I thought he was about to show me.

He scanned a badge, then a harsh, cool glare spilled out as the door opened, along with even chiller air.

“Oh… my…” Connie said as he ushered her inside. “This is…”

I looked around, taking it all in.
