“I don’t know what happened. I was feeling fine and then the smell of that food just made me…” She ends with a gag and throws up some more in the toilet.

“I’ll be fine. Just go eat that food and open the windows so I don’t have to smell it. I’m going to lay down until the feeling passes,” Ana says.

I wait and help her up before walking her to the bed. “I’ll be back. I’ll grab you some ginger ale too.”

I kiss her on the forehead as she relaxes into the bed.

“Is she okay?” Ice asks as soon as I’m in the room.

“She will be fine but said the smell of the food made her sick, so we are supposed to eat this and open the windows before she will come downstairs,” I tell them.

“The smell of the food made her sick?” Serena asks with a strange look on her face.

I nod my head. “That’s what she said. She was fine until she smelled whatever you brought.”

“I’ll be back. Go ahead and eat without me,” she says and runs out of the room.

I look over at Tank. “Well, that was weird.”

He shrugs his shoulder. “I’ve learned during the last few weeks to not get in between the sisters. They have their secret codes and messages and shit that they only tell each other. They went without it for years, and I’m glad they have it back.”

“True enough. Let’s eat,” I say, and the three of us don’t talk as we get rid of the food as quickly as possible.

Ana

I lay in my bed as the feeling of nausea passes me. My door opens, and I look over expecting to see Maverick or Ice, but it’s my sister with a weird look on her face.

“How are you feeling?” she asks.

“Meh,” I say with a shrug.

“Can I ask you a question?” she asks, sitting on the bed beside me.

“Sure,” I say slowly.

“Do you think you could be pregnant?”

At her words, I freeze.

“There’s always a chance. Mav and I don’t use protection, but we had been trying to get pregnant for years, so I don’t have any hope that it’s ever going to happen for us,” I tell her.

She gives me a sad smile. “I think you should take a test to be sure. Viking said you were feeling fine and then the smell of the food made you sick. You also have been really tired lately, and let’s not forget about the loud sex you had with Viking at mom and dad’s, so it’s entirely possible.”

“We weren’t THAT loud,” I reply.

“Viking wasn’t that loud. You, on the other hand, were a fucking opera singer.”

“You are delusional. I was as quiet as a mouse,” I insist.

“If that’s what you need to tell yourself,” she says following it up with an eyeroll and then laughing to herself. Once she is done laughing, she looks me in the eyes with a serious expression on her face.

“Listen, just check for me. If it’s negative, I won’t ask you again,” she pleads.

I roll my eyes. “Fine, I’ll try. But it’s going to be negative,” I grumble.

It’s a good thing I always have tests handy because we don’t use protection. I always held a small piece of hope that one of them would turn out positive; though a piece of me dies each time it’s negative.

I pee on the stick and put it on the counter. I open the door, and my sister wastes no time walking in. I ready myself for more disappointment.
