As much as I worry they will get sick of me, they are still mine. Even if I’m not sure I’m theirs.
Maverick “Viking”
I head over to the pool table and leave Ana and Ice to themselves. Axe is standing there waiting for someone to play a game with him, since he’s the best. He usually kicks everyone’s asses.
“How do you do it?” he asks when I’m close enough.
“Do what?” I ask, turning to face him.
“Share your woman or man with each other? You don’t get jealous?” he asks quietly.
I take a good look at him and can tell he’s very serious about his question. “I knew it had to be Ice. When I thought of anyone touching Ana, man or woman, I wanted to kill whomever would dare. When I thought about Ice touching her, I didn’t get the same feeling of rage and possession; it was almost like she was his too and, somehow, I knew that,” I tell him honestly.
“Wow. When you put it like that, it doesn’t seem so crazy,” he says, looking at me like he sees me in a new light.
“Is there a reason you want to know?” I ask, looking around to make sure no one is listening.
He shrugs and looks away. “I’m open to the idea of anything; whether it would be a man and woman, or just a woman. I was just curious for if I ever happened to be in that situation.”
I slap him on the back and start playing pool.
I think of the nursery that I’m currently working on for Ana. I haven’t told her or Ice about it. I just want it to be something I did. I know it won’t make up for everything I’ve done, but it’s not about that. I just want her to be happy, and I know this will bring a huge smile to her face.
I’ve been trying little things here and there to prove that I am the man she fell in love with. I’ve told her I loved her many times, and she responds by smiling or kissing me. Fuck, it hurts and guts me every time I don’t hear those words from her lips.
I guess I never realized how much I missed hearing those words from her until they were taken away, and I know I haven’t done nearly enough to earn them.
“Hey Axe, can you help me with something tomorrow? Ana and Ice are going on a date, and I want to surprise them,” I ask my brother.
“Sure thing, brother,” Axe says in agreement.
“I hope everything works out for you guys, brother,” Axe says when no one speaks for a few moments.
“Me too. This is everything I’ve ever wanted,” I tell him.
We get back to playing pool. While playing, I think about how I almost lost everything that mattered to me, but now things seem to be working out how they were supposed to be.
I look back over at my partners and think how crazy it is that I don’t feel jealous. The way they look and smile at each other makes me happier than I ever thought I could be.
I glance down at Ana’s stomach and can’t wait until we add to our family because that’s what we are creating; a family.
While I’m looking at Ana, I watch as she looks over at Dani and gives her a nod towards the bar.
I look at the bar in confusion and see the prospect working the bar like he usually does. This prospect is actually getting voted in or out tonight.
Dani smirks and walks over to the prospect. He looks over at her and listens before looking around the bar and then leaving the room.
Ana gets up quickly and runs towards the bar. I can’t help but grin when Ana gets under the bar and Dani helps by placing things in front of her, hiding her.
I shake my head. Those two are going to be trouble together. I can tell.
I look around the room, and the brothers are all watching with amusement. It doesn’t look like anyone is going to say anything. We all just sit back and watch what they are going to do.
Everyone gets back to their conversations as the prospect comes back.
Dani is in the same spot she was when he left, smiling sweetly at him. She talks to him for a few minutes before he lets out this high-pitched squeak of terror.
That’s when the room erupts in laughter.
