“What?” She was looking at the ground as she whispered.
“D-don’t hurt him.”
“Who?” My eyebrows knitted.
Slowly, Raine raised her head. “Sin, don’t hurt him.”
Shit! His ass finna get these hands.
“I’mma do more than that. He’s putting his hands on a woman, so I’m finna go see if he’ll hit me like that.” I was halfway to my truck when she shouted.
“Reese! Sincere is the father of my baby!”
Chapter 22
Ronnie
DidRaine just say Sincere is the father of her child?
I moved to the side when Reese ran back inside the house. He was mad as hell and I couldn’t blame him.
Raine backed up from the door until her ankles hit the steps. She sat down, wrapping her arms around her legs.
“Raine.” He chuckled humorlessly, pacing back and forth in front of her.
“You just told me Sin, Sincere Dupree, is the father of your child? I heard that, right?”
It was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. Rayna was standing the same distance I was, not wanting to get in the middle of Reese and his rage. My neck was on fire, my throat burned from screaming, and I’m fairly sure I was about to go to jail. However, I didn’t interrupt them.
“Yes. It was a mistake. I swear it was.” She hung her head in shame.
Reese wasn’t tryna hear that. When he punched a hole in the wall, all of us flinched.
“Fuck!’ he shouted. “You so damn stupid, Raine!”
As soon as Reese said that, she sat her face in her hands, sobbing. I felt bad for her.
Rayna opened her mouth to speak. However, she quickly changed her mind when she saw her brother’s facial expression.
“This happened spring break, right?”
Raine nodded her head but didn’t move from her position.
“Look at me!” Reese demanded.
I was wrong on so many levels for being turned on by his authoritative tone. Reluctantly, Raine lifted her head, setting her eyes on his.
“I’m disappointed in you, baby sister. But I love you. I’m still gone be there for you, aight.” She nodded, chin quivering.
“I’m out!” Reese walked out the door, and I followed behind him.
“You finna go do something stupid yourself, aren’t you?” I tried to keep up with his strides, but he was a man on a mission.
“He got my sister pregnant, Ronnie. I’m finna kill this nigga,” he answered with venom, pausing by his car to stare at me. “You coming?”
Well hell, I’m already in deep shit. I might as well get some satisfaction in seeing him get his ass beat.
“Yeah.” I hopped in the passenger seat, buckling up the seatbelt.
