We were escorted to the table with eyes on us the entire time. I felt uncomfortable in my own skin. Having everybody look at me like this wasn’t something I’m used to, despite who my father was.
Sin stopped looking at his menu to glance at me. “You been quiet since we got here. What’s up with you?”
“Nothing, everything is fine. Let’s get down to business.” I took the manila folder out of my purse. “We need to come up with a plan to kill this story before it gets out of hand.”
I had the folder standing up so I could look inside, not knowing Sin was gonna reach his hand out to pull it down until it was laid flat on the table.
“We can do all that shit later, baby. I wanna get to know you better,” Sin confessed.
That wasn’t part of the deal when I decided to come out with him. I should’ve known he wouldn’t take these allegations against him seriously.
“Sin,” I sighed. “I think you’ve got the wrong idea about this meeting. I’m here to help you with your case, nothing more, nothing less.”
I made my intentions clear to him, hoping he’ll respect my boundaries. Nothing against him personally, but I don’t get involved with rappers. They’re all the same to me. None of them are relationship material.
Sin leaned up in his chair, staring me directly into my eyes.
“I want you, Ronnie, and I always get what I want.” His tongue ran across his bottom lip. “By all means necessary.”
My earlier statement still holds some truth, but I’ll be wrong if I said he didn’t turn me on. The fact that Sin’s willing to do whatever to get me, makes me feel good.
“I’m flattered, Sin, but I don’t date men I work with.” I put the folder back in my bag. “Besides, it’s against company rules for us to be together.”
Standing up, I was getting ready to leave, when his hand reached out to stop me.
“Where you going?” he asked, with knitted eyebrows.
“Leaving,” I answered, looking around to see if we had an audience.
“You just gone walk away from me?” he asked, with hurt in his voice. “Give a nigga some credit. I brought you all the way down here to spend a few hours with you.”
I felt bad for tryna leave now and I mean, free food never hurt anybody.
With a sigh, I plopped back down in my chair. I picked up the menu on the side of me to look it over, noticing Sin watching me out the corner of my eye.
“Damn, ma. A nigga gotta pull teeth to have date with you. Wassup with that?” he inquired, his hand ran down his jawline.
“I just like to keep my business and pleasure separate.” I shrugged, averting my eyes.
Sin sat back in his chair, crossing his arms. “I don’t know about that. What if yo’ future husband is in the music industry? You can be missing your blessing.”
I snickered, eyes scanning the appetizers. “I doubt that’ll happen.”
When Sin’s hand made contact with mine, I nearly jumped outta my skin. Focusing my attention on him, I saw vulnerability in his eyes and my heart skipped a beat.
“What if he’s already here?” he countered softly. “Sitting in front of you?”
My past experiences had me second-guessing if he’s being genuine or not. I did exactly what he’s suggesting once and put my heart on the line for a guy who meant me no good. I’m not sure if I’m willing to try again, especially for a man like Sin.
Chapter 5
Sincere ‘Sin’
I knewI had her ass hooked with that question. It was only a matter of time until I got her back to my crib. Usually, when a bitch gives me a hard time like this, I’ll just cut her off. However, having Ronnie on my team is just what the fuck I needed.
Lately, I’d been dipping my fingers in lots of illegal stuff, so much that Reese doesn’t even know the shit I’m into.
I’ve been importing cocaine and guns from Jamaica for months now. My nigga Cruz and I got the streets on lock with the good shit. I’ve also been laundering my money through different accounts, that’s why it’s crucial for me to bag this bitch and have her help me out.
