His expression darkened slightly as he remembered the necklace that had bothered him from the moment he saw it.
"That diamond necklace she bought at the auction..." His jaw tightened. "The one she spent fifteen million dollars on."
His gaze returned to Elise.
"Why did you keep it? I told you that you shouldn't have taken it."
Elise looked at him with a helpless smile.
"But she would have been upset," she explained. "It was my wedding gift from her. I couldn't just refuse it."
She paused, remembering how Astrid had insisted.
Xavier released a quiet sigh, his expression turning troubled. He looked down at her, the frustration in his eyes mixed with a helplessness that only Elise ever managed to bring out of him.
"I am so tired of this," he murmured.
His arm tightened around her waist as he pulled her closer.
"I don't know how much longer I can keep you all to myself when everyone seems determined to steal your attention away from me."
Elise couldn't help the small laugh that escaped her.
"You overthink everything."
Xavier immediately frowned at her, clearly unhappy that she wasn't taking his jealousy seriously.
"I do not."
He turned her around and kissed the corner of her mouth before moving down toward her throat. His lips brushed against her skin as he whispered in her ear, "Do you remember our wedding night? It is still my favorite night. Let's recreate it tonight. The same positions."
Elise stiffened as his breath brushed over her neck, and the memory of their wedding night immediately rushed back to her.
The goddamn man had not let her out of his grip for even a second the entire night, and even the day after that. It had been the most exhausting two nights of her life, but at the same time, they had also been the most pleasurable nights of her entire lifeāones she could barely forget, even if she tried.
He had made her cry out so many times that even the thought of it now made her shudder. She could still remember how many times she had looked at him, completely overwhelmed by him. They had even needed to change the entire bed in the bedroom because of how much it had been used after they were done, and they had broken a few wooden pieces of the headboard as well.
Her face flushed at the memory.
"We just got a new bed," she told him, a small smile appearing at the corner of her mouth.
Xavier only smiled against her skin, biting lightly at her neck as his tongue brushed against her earlobe.
"Your husband is rich enough to buy a new bed every day," he muttered.
"But I won't do that fourth position," she said, immediately shuddering at the memory.
She had never felt him that deep before, but at the same time, she had never experienced such intense pleasure either. It hadbeen so overwhelming that she had cried out and trembled for so long she could barely breathe, and he had turned that position into his favorite way of teasing her until she begged for him.
A low chuckle escaped him, and she felt his body shake against hers before he looked down into her eyes. His mouth almost touched hers as he murmured against her lips, "We will do that one specifically while changing to every new position as my break time."
She could barely believe him. Her eyes widened, almost filled with horror.
Before she could respond, the sudden honk of a car interrupted them.
Elise immediately turned around, only to see a car pulling into the driveway. Xavier followed her gaze, and both of them turned to look as the luxury car came to a stop in front of the house.
A well-dressed driver stepped out of the car and quickly rounded it to open the passenger door.
