Here goes nothing.

“Morning,” he says. Shit.

Beck I was prepared for. Annoyingly tight T-shirt-wearing Beck. Not shirtless and ripped abs and backside Beck. Is that required for a writer? The whole chiseled thing?

Hell.

“Calla, are you okay?”

I pick my jaw up and nod.

“Totally, bug.”

“Bug?” His left brow rises.

I just smile and walk past him.

“Yep.”

He lets out a slight chuckle and turns on the blender.

Good. Yes. I need noise to block out the thoughts in my mind.

Bug. Was that really all I could come up with?

The blender shuts off, and he points to the table where a card and flowers sit.

“That’s for you.”

“Me?”

He nods.

“Who are they from?”

He drinks his smoothie right from the blender cup and points to his chest.

“You got me flowers?” I turn so he can’t see the small smile that touches my lips. I can’t remember the last time someone bought me flowers. “What’s it for?”

“Read the card.”

I reach slowly. I don’t want to look as eager as I feel.

Congrats on week one at your new job. Enjoy your day off and a coffee with me.

~Beck~

A gift card to Love’s a Brewing drops from the card.

Wow. This is sweet. Simple. I hate that I like it and that he’s gifting me for something I don’t have.

“Thank you.”

I don’t know what else to say, so it’s a good thing he replies.

“You’re welcome. Any plans today?” Beck asks.

“Nope.”
