“Oh, do tell.” Greer grins and greets me with a hug. “Does this have to deal with your dear husband?”
“Sure does.”
I’m about to tell them everything when Nora Quinn walks in. “Good morning, am I early?”
“No, you’re right on time. Calla just dropped in to share some news,” Willa says and points to the chair in front of her desk.
Nora must be here for an appointment. Sooner or later, I was bound to show up when Willa had a client who wasn’t my brother.
“Nora is going to help me with my company’s presence online,” she says, as if she knows I’m debating whether I should leave. “She might be able to help with your situation as well.”
“I didn’t even tell you what it is yet.”
“Yeah, well, Nora is a problem-solver, and considering the advice Greer and I sent you off with last time, I’m assuming that is part of the big problem you just announced, yeah?”
I nod.
I bet she can help.
Nora, who has been looking back and forth between Willa and me, takes a seat. “Are you all about to share some girl gossip with me? Because I won’t lie; I need it. I need it badly. Natalie is always out of town with Griffin, and I spend way too much time with Hero and the boys.”
“Tell me about it. I love Zane, but those boys love,loveto be together.”
Nora laughs. “It’s cute and annoying how much they care for each other.”
“Isn’t it? Sometimes I think—”
“Oh my god,” I cut in and then slump against the wall. “Is this my future?” I point to Willa and Nora. “Hanging out and talking about how cute and annoying our husb—” I shut my mouth instantly. Only Greer and Willa know that Beck and I are married. “You know, I think I will come back.”
Greer stops me. “She might be able to get the information you need. You know she’s married to Hero and just said she spends a lot of time with the boys.”
“Speaking of spending time with the boys, did you go on a date with my brother last night?” I ask Greer. Her eyes go wide, and she waves her hands in front of her.
“No, why?”
“I saw you.”
“You did? Why didn’t you come to say hi?”
“Um, because you two were on a date.”
And I was on a date with my husband, but that’s not the point of this current conversation.
“It wasn’t a date. Trust me. We are just friends. Your brother is pretty cool, and I… need to stop dating altogether. Just write men off.”
I study her for a moment, but the disappointed look in her eyes does it for me. I believe her.
I let out a big breath.
“Guys are so complicated, and Beck is leading the pack.”
“Alright.” Nora puts her hand up. “I’m invested now even though I know nothing. It sounds like something fun.”
“It’s really not,” I reply. My gaze falls to Willa and Greer, who both nod to Nora.
I’m not saying they’re wrong about me sharing with Nora; I’m just worried that the more people who find out… well, eventually it’s going to get to my brother or my parents. It’s not that I think they’ll be disappointed. It’s that if they know, they would be happy. Too happy. So happy that once Beck and do finally get divorced, it will crush them.
I let out a breath and nod. I guess that’s all the more reason I need to get advice from anyone who’s willing to give it.
