She drops to a kneeling position without a word, and I tousle her hair in response.
The door opens a few minutes later and a surly looking Victor steps out.
His gaze softens the second it lands on Grace, and he gives her a wink and nod of approval before addressing all of us.
“We have three new VIPs joining us tonight. I’ll be handling Master Griffin myself, as he is a potential client in other endeavors. Harper, you will be there to provide anything he needs.”
I’m surprised Victor is picking another submissive to be at his side tonight instead of Grace. Her body language has shifted, and I sense she isn’t happy with the choice either.
“Grace, you are to greet Memphis and his wife Rylee and see to it they have what they need. The others will handle their regular duties as part of the greeting team tonight.”
“Yes, Master,” Grace murmurs, disappointment clear in her tone. I squeeze her shoulder, and she smiles up at me.
Victor concludes the meeting and sends everyone to get ready for the evening.
“Grace, do what you need to, lover. I’m going to speak to Victor for a moment.”
“Yes, Goddess,” Grace says, rising and heading for a hallway I’m unfamiliar with.
“Is everything OK?” I ask, moving to stand in front of Victor.
He reaches for my hand and lifts it to his lips. “Just fine, Spitfire. Why do you ask?”
“I’m just surprised you asked Harper to be by your side for your VIP guy. It hurt Grace’s feelings.”
Victor frowns. “Did it? What makes you say that?”
“I could just tell. My guess is she’s worried that you don’t trust her after whatever happened with her phone.”
Victor closes his eyes and drags a hand through his hair. It’s tangled from doing that all day, and it gives me an idea. “HaveGrace brush your hair for you and help you dress. It will soothe any hurt that you passed her over.”
He smiles. “Good idea. I’ll do that. And I wasn’t passing her over. It’s for the good of the club. If Grace is at my side, I’ll be able to smell her arousal, and I won’t be able to focus on the new client.”
That makes me laugh, and he pulls me in for a hug. “Make sure Grace knows all of that. She lives to please you, and we don’t want her thinking she hasn’t,” I murmur as I rest my head against his shoulder.
“I’ll find her.”
Grace
MyheartsankwhenVictor announced Harper would assist him tonight. Does he not trust me? That would kill me.
Maybe he put me with Memphis, and Rylee because I’ve met them before. That’s what I’m choosing to believe right now because the other option is too much.
“Butterfly, you’re going to put a hole in the leather if you keep using that much force.”
I jump and look down at the rag and leather cleaner in my hand. “Sorry, Master.”
“Looks like Lili was right,” he says, stepping farther into the room.
“Right about what?”
“That I hurt your feelings by assigning Harper to my potential new client.”
“No, you didn’t,” I say petulantly.
“Lying to me, Grace? We’ve talked about that.” He takes the rag and cleaner from my hand and tilts my chin so I have to meet his gaze.
“OK. It hurt a little. But I don’t have a claim to your time or attention at the club. I know that. You’re busy and have to make important decisions.”
