Ignoring my thundering heart, I checked my lipstick in the mirror and carefully wiped away the smears Harvey had left. Crisis averted. At least I knew I wouldn’t spend half the night talking down another husband. It might have been an unorthodox method for controlling a client, but if it was effective, then no harm, no foul.

Fuck, you’re a liar.

Giving my reflection a firm nod, I pulled open the door.

The impact was what I imagined a shortstop experienced catching a fastball from Gage Wilson as a hand collared my throat, pushing me back until I collided with the far wall.

“Did you fuck him?” Bright blue eyes narrowed on me, his hand tightening as I tried to get my bearings.

“Get out of my face, Calix.” I slapped at his hand, more annoyed by the contact than anything. Faster than I could track, he took both my hands in one of his and slammed my wrists above my head.

“Don’t touch me. Now answer the question.”

I stood before him, pinned like a butterfly beneath his cold stare. My heart rate picked up, and I told myself it was anger. It had nothing to do with how close he stood or the way his hand fit so perfectly around my throat.

“Fuck. You,” I growled, testing his grip on my wrists and finding no give.

“I can smell him on your breath. Little MissNot like other girlsstill got on her knees like a good slut. Tell me, Tater-tots, did you like it?”

His hand slid from my throat, down between my breasts, over my stomach and came to rest on the waistband of my jeans.

“Are you disappointed he didn’t return the favor?” he asked, his fingers sliding over the sensitive skin of my lower belly.

My face heated, and I let out a small growl, trying to pull my hips away from his wandering fingers. I had nowhere to go. I was trapped.

“Don’t touch me.”

He paused, his fingers poised at the top of my waistband. Leaning in, he dropped his mouth to my ear, and I tried to suppress a shiver at the scrape of his stubble on my cheek.

“Your safe word isCalix is my god.”

“That’s a sentence, not a—” I cut off with a gasp as he thrust his hand into my jeans, dragging his fingers through my folds before he held them in front of my face, unflinching as my arousal dripped obscenely over his palm.

“Is this for him? Or me?”

He swiped his fingers across my mouth, painting my lips until they were slick with my wetness.

“Are you going to use your safe word?” His tongue flicked out and swiped at his bottom lip as he eyed my mouth.

“I’m not saying that,” I growled, even as I subtly squeezed my thighs together. I did not find this overbearing asshole attractive. I didn’t. It was a matter of willpower.

Calix hummed and popped the button on my jeans.

“I guess I’ll have to settle for you screaming my name, then.”

With his eyes locked on mine, he slid his hand into my panties and thrust two thick fingers inside me.

I gasped at the sudden intrusion, shuddering as a wave of pleasure traveled up my spine.

“Fuck, Tater-tots. You’re strangling my fingers.” Calix pressed his forehead to mine as he pumped his fingers into me in leisurely strokes. His breath feathered over my sticky lips, and Ifroze, torn between awe at being so close to him and outrage at his lack of boundaries.

A moment later, he seemed to come back to himself as he increased the pace of his thrusts, pressing his palm hard against my clit.

“Is this what you hoped to get from that selfish fuck? You thought you’d be different from every other pussy that comes across his path? You’re not. You’re just like every other hole.”

I struggled against his grip, pissed off all over again at his words, and even more so as my body coiled tighter, ready for release. I wasn’t a masochist.

“You can fuck all the way off. Let go of me.”
