“I guess she needed to speak to someone about it.” I shrug.
“She could have spoken to us.” Julian grumbles, flopping back against the back of the sofa. “Hell, even Bull would have been a better choice.” I hold back my laugh. Grace and Bull have become quite close over the last few months. At first Julian was worried shewouldrun away with him, but Bull assured him that he doesn’t see her like that. Just a good friend and confidant. Especially since he adopted the twins.
“Seriously, Satan. Just fuck them both already, all this male competition is making me want to vomit.” We hear Pea say from where she is cleaning the locked room, she must be on the phone to Grace. But what competition is she talking about? We’ve both kept our distance in the romantic sense. Unless she’s talking about the mini competition me and Julian have going on of who can find the ‘Uncles’ first.
The score so far - Julian 4, me 3. Yes he has one more than me. But he has resources at his disposal, whereas I have me and my ability to use the internet, as well as the talent to stay hidden.
We’ve bought them back here each time, with Grace taking the final blow on each one of the bastards.
Just four more to go. And then she is free - her words not mine - free from ever having to commit another murder.
There’s one man though that we can’t find. The man we both tried searching for first.
Ernesto.
“I need to find me a woman to fuck, there’s too many men around here.” Pea pauses while Grace answers. “Eww, I told you, Bull is too old.” Julian starts chuckling away to himself. “Yes I know I have a daddy kink,” another pause.
“Grace… what’s happening?” Me and Julian sit up straight, trying to listen closer. “My God woman, don’t scare me like that again.” She starts laughing. I relax instantly, Julian on the other hand decides to kick open the door, making Pea jump. He was always tense before, but it’s getting worse and worse the closer tonight comes.
Is he worried?
“What the hell Jules.” Pea puts her hand on her chest, dropping the scrubbing brush into the bucket of bleach, making it splash all over her.
“What’s up with Grace?” He goes to snatch her phone away from her. Luckily Pea is quicker and moves back.
“She’s fine.” Pea tuts and puts the phone on speaker, where we hear Grace chuckling to herself. “Tell ‘em, Satan.”
“I thought I heard someone calling me so I went quiet for a moment that’s all.” She laughs. “Always so over the top.” I can practically see her rolling her eyes. “Anyway, I do have to go now. I have to sort the kids out and get ready for the party.”
The party. My heart starts racing and my palms start to get sweaty. The party is where she is going to make her decision. And even though I love Jullian, I hope she picks me.
“Ohh we need to discuss outfits.” Pea scrambles to her feet and starts running out the room. “I’ll finish later, I need to help Grace get ready.” She shouts as she runs out the door.
“God help us both, if Pea is helping you know for a fact Grace is going to arrive either dressed in leather or something tight and short.” Julian grumbles under his breath. I chuckle quietly, nodding in agreement.
“I best go and save Bull from my son.” I pat his back. “You gonna be alright alone?”
“Yeah, Big Boss is on his way anyway to take the bodies.” He nods toward where Pea killed two targets. “Then I gotta start decorating.”
“Ha, wellhave fun with that.” I wave goodbye and walk out to my car.
I hope she picks me.
Julian was wrong, ever so wrong. Grace doesn’t turn up in something tight or made of leather. Our girl turns up in a knee length, navy blue and silver halter neck dress. Her hair is half up and half down with a silver bow securing the ponytail. My throat goes dry when she smiles at me.
I’m fucked if she picks Julian, because I think I just fell even deeper for her.
So fucking deep I think I just made it to the pits of Hell.
I clear my throat. “Hey, beautiful.” I give her a quick kiss on her temple. “How’s your day been?”
“Full of dirty diapers and screaming kids.” She chuckles. “Nothing a pillow fort and snacks couldn’t fix though. I just hope they settle down for poor Coby.”
“He volunteered, so he knew what he was getting himself into.” I chuckle. “Besides, there’s plenty of help in the building if he needs it.” When Grace moved back into her apartment with Anya and Gustin, Julian informed all of us that he owns the building and has a whole team living there and looking out for her. Knowing that answered a LOT of unanswered questions I had over the years.
“True.” She chuckles. “Besides. I tried myverybest not to pump the boys up with sugar before bed.” She winks.
“Yeah, he shouldn’t have tried to hit on you.” I roll my eyes. “He’s lucky it was me he did it in front of and not Julian.”
