I’m then pressed between him and my car. I can feel the cold metal on my back through the thin fabric of my shirt. My legs automatically wrap around Grey’s waist as he uses his pelvis to keep me pinned against the car. He grabs my face with both of his hands and looks into my wide eyes with his narrowed ones.
He then says in a dark voice, “Just because he fucked up, doesn’t mean we are done. No matter what happens with him, you are still mine.” He slams his mouth on mine.
I have no idea how much time we spend like that, but when we finally pull apart, I can feel that my lips are swollen, and his hands have gone from my face to their normal resting place on my ass. It takes me a second to catch my breath and remember how to speak, but when I do, I take my hands that ended up around his neck as I held on for dear life during our kiss, gently resting them on both of his cheeks.
“I never thought you and I were done. Our relationship is different, and I would never end it over something that Knox did,” I say, looking into his eyes, hoping he can hear the sincerity in my voice.
He lets out a breath, like he was bracing himself for my answer and holding it. He closes his eyes and rests his forehead to mine. We stay there, just holding each other for a while longer.
“Let’s go in the house and watch one of those stupid reality shows. I’ll get the snacks, and you go put on some of your weird socks.” My smile grows bigger with every word he says. Grey was the biggest asshole when we met, but now, he knows exactly what I need, even though he hates most of the things that just came out of his mouth.
“That sounds perfect, thank you,” I say as I give him a light kiss on his lips that are also swollen, and then I start to wiggle, giving him the hint that he should put me down. He grunts and gives me a slap on my ass to get me to stop moving.
He turns towards the door of the garage and walks us into the house, continuing, where instead of gently placing me on the floor, he stands on the side of my bed, giving my ass a hard squeeze before just dropping me in the middle. I release a high-pitched squeak in surprise and look up at him with an annoyed look. He just winks at me and walks out of my open bedroom door.
I drop the annoyed look the second that he is out of sight and smile; I love playful Grey.
Shit. Love? Do I love Grey? I stop that spiral before it can start. I have had enough emotional turmoil for one night. It’s only been a few weeks. I’m going to take things slow with Grey, especially after the shit Knox just pulled.
I get off my bed and walk into my closet to get changed into my comfy clothes. I hear my phone ringing from my bed, whereit fell out of the pocket of my jeans when I was dropped. I let it ring since I’m in the middle of the task of trying to take off skinny jeans. I love how they make my legs look longer and what they do for my ass, but it takes forever and breaking a sweat to take them off.
I hear my phone stop ringing, and instead of leaving a voicemail, it starts ringing immediately again, making my heart rate speed up. That only happens when something is wrong. If not, they just leave a voicemail or text me. Back-to-back calls are never something good.
I am finally free from my jeans and race to my phone. I pick it up and see that it’s Jackson. I answer on the next ring. “What’s wrong?”
“An hour after you left, the clubhouse got shot up. We checked the gate, and it looks like the prospect was killed. We did a count to see how many of us were hit. No one was hurt badly, but we couldn’t find Flame. We checked the cameras and saw him being carried out the back while the front of the clubhouse was being shot up.” I can hear him trying to hold back his emotions, trying to stay strong in front of the club. Even though I can tell that he is internally freaking out about his best friend.
“Do you know who did the job?” I ask, trying to stay calm until I get all of the information.
“Didn’t get any faces. The only thing that the cameras picked up was an unmarked white van that they put him in that they got through the gate after killing the prospect. None of the cameras were able to get a plate number.”
“Give me an hour, and I’ll call you back,” I say as I go to hang up the phone.
“Will, wait. Let us take care of this one. It’s club business. I just thought that you would want to know what happened. Hefucked up, but I know that you care about him,” Jackson gets out just before I hit the button to hang up.
“I don’t have time to think about him being a dick right now, Jackson. I have to get to work, and if you want to handle it without me, then fine. Let’s race,” I say as I hang up the phone, cutting off his protests.
I’m done with men in leather vests trying to tell me what I can and can’t fucking do! I am pissed at Knox, but I’ll be damned if I let someone kidnap my ex-boyfriend! What would people think if the guys that I date just start disappearing? A girl can’t have that kind of reputation.
Grey appears in my doorway and sees me standing in the tank top from earlier and my panties, frowning down at my phone. He asks, “What’s wrong?”
“Hold off on the snacks. Knox got kidnapped, and I have to go get him,” I say, not looking up from my phone and moving past Grey in the doorway on the way to my office. I take a seat at my desk and start to hack into the cameras at the clubhouse, just like Gig taught me. When I’m in, I bring up the footage and start following it through traffic cams and CCTV. I’m not as fast as Gig is, but he made sure that I knew how to do it myself before he first left for the military.
Grey stands behind me, looking at the screen and asks, “Are you helping the MC?”
“Nope. Jackson is also on my shit list since he thinks I should ‘let them handle it,’” I say in an annoyed voice.
“I thought you were pissed at Knox?”
“I am. He hurt my feelings in front of everyone, spoke down to me, and showed me exactly where I fell on his priorities. But if anyone gets to hurt him or possibly kill him, it’s me,” I say as I finally get a picture of the van’s license plate. I pull it up in the DMV records and see who it’s registered to.
After I find the name and who they are, I get even more pissed. I close my eyes, resting my elbows on my desk and rubbing my temples, getting more annoyed by the second.
“Who is it?” Grey asks.
“The fucking Iron Reapers. The Knights had time to fix this after Sophia, but they didn’t take care of it, and now they have the next President of their club. This was too planned out for going in blind. They didn’t even find the traitor in their club.” I take a breath after finishing my rant. “I’m going to fucking finish this for them since apparently, it’s too difficult to clean up their own mess. Then I’m done with their bullshit. I’m not dealing with a club that doesn’t follow through with the 1% patch that they wear on their cuts,” I say as I stand up and start stomping back to my room.
As I pass Grey on the way out of my office, he grabs my arm and stops me. He steps up to me, slightly bending at the waist so our noses almost touch and says, “I think you accidentally said ‘I’ instead of ‘we.’” He takes a step back and walks to the room that he was originally staying in that he just uses to keep his clothes in at this point.
