“You better believe it.”

She opens the other eye, and a huge smile is my reward.

“Morning.”

She appears almost shy, and I pull her close, tilting her sweet lips to mine and kiss her how she deserves to be kissed. How I will always kiss her and will never stop.

“I thought it was a dream.”

Her satisfied grin is addictive, and I love how happy she is.

“It’s real, darlin’ and no arguments, but you’re coming home with me, period.”

“I never could say no to you.”

She drops me a sexy wink and I groan.

“Now who’s being tortured?”

My balls are throbbing, but we are due to leave imminently, and so with a sigh, I huff, “We need to shower, change and meet the others; our ride out of here is soon.”

“I can’t wait.”

As Sunday heads to the shower, I make no secret of checking out her ass, and a deep sense of contentment settles inside me. She is back. We are back and the future is promising. I got my girl, and this time I will treat her so right, she will never want to leave.

We head downstairsand the others are wolfing down the breakfast provided, which is finer than any five-star hotel we could have reservations for.

Sunday is wearing the silver dress, and she pulls a face as she sits down to eat.

“I can’t wait to burn this dress.”

Ryder sighs. “I’m sorry, darlin’. We never thought to bring you a change of clothes.”

“To be honest, it’s fine.”

She shrugs. “I don’t blame the dress, just the psycho who chose it.”

My fist curls, and I blow out a breath because what happened to Santiago was out of my control. He won’t be bothering her now, but it’s not the Reapers who made it happen. I can neverthank the Angels enough for their part in Sunday’s liberation, and yet there is nobody to thank. We had one meeting with them, and then nothing.

Blade must have read my mind because he lowers his voice.

“I must admit I’m curious about this setup. What can you tell us?”

He directs his question to Ryder, who grins at Snake. There is a twinkle in their eyes as they share a private joke, it seems, and Ryder shrugs.

“That they are protective of their identities. They are good people, and this operation must remain a secret because nobody knows about it.”

“Silent assassins.” Blade grins. “I appreciate that.”

Ryder nods. “I respect their rules, and they respect ours. We work together for the same purpose within the boundaries. Their hospitality will be paid back one day when we can be of assistance, but until then we leave them with our grateful thanks and our assurances not to speak about what we have seen.”

“Not to the other Reapers?”

I must clarify that, and Ryder shrugs.

“That’s up to you, but sometimes it’s better to practice confidentiality if you expect it in return.”
