“I’m sitting in silence because I love you and I know I’m on the brink of talking to you the way I talk to everybody else,” he clarified. “And yo’ ass would cry.”.

“Is it a crime to not want to talk about my feelings, Berlin? Seriously? Why are you pushing this?”

Drix turned forward and we sat in silence for a beat before he exhaled.

“Nah. You right. Bottle that shit in then if that’s what you need to do, Myome.” He slid his feet off the table, leaned over, kissed my forehead, then stood. “I’ll be at the studio late with Shade. Don’t wait up.” He glanced at his watch then back at me. “I love you, Twin.”

“Yeah. I love you too.” I gave him a small smile.

He nodded once in response then turned away. I watched him make his way out of the door. Then I let my head fall backwards and groaned.

CHAPTER 23

DRIX

Islipped into bed and sighed as I sank into the mattress. I cast a brief look in Myome’s direction then rolled onto my side. It was already after four and I had a meeting with potential artists in the morning. Rome had pitched a woman who’d opened for him and Merch while they were on tour. On top of that, Allison was trying her hand at putting together another girl group trio.

She was taking her job as A&R seriously, and she’d done well so far, so I was giving her a chance. She’d discovered Myome and Charm and they were both heavy hitters in my eyes. If she had the ear and hustle to get another group together, I’d at least give their shit a genuine chance.

I closed my eyes and let out a small yawn as I got settled.

“Drix?” Myome said carefully and my eyebrows knitted together.

I briefly thought about pretending to be asleep but ultimately just sighed and rolled onto my back.

“So now you want to talk?”

“No,” she deadpanned.

“A’ight.” I scoffed and lifted slightly to roll back onto my side.

“But can you cuddle me?” she asked quietly, her hand lifting to my shoulder before I could fully roll.

“Yeah, Twin.” I lay back down and rolled toward her. “Bring yo’ crybaby ass here.”

She slid closer to me immediately, tucking her head beneath my chin and throwing her leg over mine. I wrapped an arm around her and smiled to myself when she took a deep inhale and damn near melted into me. I loved that shit.

I loved knowing my mean ass wife felt safest wrapped in my arms. No matter what kind of attitude she had or how she came out of her body sometimes, I loved my fucking wife and I was too grown to hold grudges. Even if we weren’t rocking with each other for real, there was some shit I could never fold on.

Nobody could ever disrespect her and I let it slide.

I would bring my ass home every night.

I wouldn’t ignore any text messages or calls.

I wouldn’t purposely withhold affection.

Some shit was more important than pride and my wife was one of those things.

Plus, I knew my baby. I knew her as well as I knew my siblings and I hadn’t lived a single day of my life without Chandler at my side, and shit, Rome hadn’t lived a single day without me at his side.

Myome was an emotional woman. The last thing I needed was to be a lil bitch and give her attitude because she gave me an attitude. As soon as I did that, she’d double down and be even more upset. Then we’d be stuck in a cycle. Nobody had time for the foolish, childish ass shit.

“I love you,” Myome mumbled.

“I love you too, baby.” I kissed the top of her head.

She tilted her head back and looked up at me. I glanced down and stared at her for a little bit until my eyes adjusted and I could make out her most prominent features.
