MYOME
Ismirked at a post on BB Be Knowing’s page sharing that Drix had been proven to not be the father of Monica’s baby. The paternity test had come back and of course the baby wasn’t Drix’s. He’d gotten the results last night and Chandler had fed it to the blogs almost immediately.
I was glad Monica was proven to be the liar she was, and felt vindicated about the ass whooping I’d given her, but Drix and I couldn’t even celebrate with his father’s health scare.
I looked up from my phone, jumping and blinking several times when I stepped off the elevator on the second floor of the label and was met with a tall, lean man with shoulder length dreads and the most welcoming smile. He had a coffee in one hand and a clipboard in the other, with some of the most gorgeous dark blue nails.
“Uh, hi? What can I do for you?”
“I’m Steven.” He offered me the cup and I accepted.
“Right. And you are?”
“Your assistant?” His eyebrows knitted together. “Uhm, I interviewed with Drix and Allison and got the go ahead to start today.”
“Right. Okay.” I nodded. “Cool. Well, my office is under construction since I just claimed it and I’ll be in Drix’s for the foreseeable future because he’ll be out.”
“Okay.” He nodded. “Sounds good. I got you a chai just the way Allison said you like it and Chandler handed me Drix’s schedule, so I’m prepped for him, but I haven’t gotten a calendar invite from you.”
“I’ll be working Drix’s schedule actually.” I walked toward Drix’s office and Steven followed me. “Can you tell me what he’s supposed to be doing today?”
“Outside of an eight-hour studio block, he has a meeting with Kevo in about thirty minutes.”
“Fuck.” I scoffed. “Can you get Allison on the phone please?”
“Sure. I’ll send her right over.”
“Thank you. I appreciate you.”
“Of course.”
I nodded once then pushed my way into Drix’s office. It was empty, quiet, and cold. He still had boxes on the couch and I sighed as I sat behind his desk.
He was glued to his father’s side, rightfully so. Hendrix was doing okay. He would have to go through rehab and there was a possibility that the tingling sensation he felt would always remain but he was alive and moving around.
Rome had rescheduled ten dates of his tour and came home.
The King siblings were all panicking in their own ways and it was scary to witness. To see Chandler, who was always so organized and logical, Rome who was one of the most nonchalant and aloof men I’d ever met, and Drix, who walked through life like he was fearless, all fall apart.
I didn’t blame them.
That was why I was taking over Drix’s calendar. I would make sure the label was up and running while he focused on being there with his family. It felt like the least I could doconsidering I loved that man more than I could ever put into words.
I’d always had access to all things Trill Loyalty related but hadn’t really looked into any of it. So I’d spent a better part of the night looking over emails, financial reports, and several very detailed spreadsheets Chandler had crafted.
I was staring at one, utterly confused, when a small beeping sound pulled me from concentrating.
“Hello?” I grabbed the phone immediately.
“Hey, Myome. It’s Allison. What’s up?”
“Hi. I need a favor,” I stated plainly.
“It’s not a favor. I’m on payroll. Tell me what you need.”
“Kevo is apparently on his way over here for a signing meeting with Drix but there’s no Drix to speak of. Do I have the authority to negotiate and make deals?”
“Well, seeing as you own half the company, I would assume yes.”
