ACE

“Ace.”

I was still dreaming. And I refused to wake up.

“Ace.”

That voice. That sweet voice saying my name in that soft, needy tone. I’d heard it twice last night when my princess,my Tessa, was on the verge of coming apart for me.

It’d been my name she said.

I thought I’d have to wait months to hear that. Months before I could touch, tease, and taste her the way I wanted to. Months before I could claim all of her.

But I should’ve known better.

Tessa was a smart woman. It wouldn’t take her long to figure out what I already knew. We were made for each other.

“Ace.”

There it was again. That voice saying my name.

Only this time, it was accompanied by a soft touchagainst my bare chest. Her touch. My skin burned with desire beneath those delicate fingertips.

Maybe I wasn’t dreaming after all.

Opening my eyes, I saw her. Utterly gorgeous, staring at me, and definitely not sleepy.

“Morning, handsome.”

How I managed to stifle a groan was a mystery. To wake to that,to her, every morning really would be a dream.

“Good morning.”

Tessa gave me a shy smile. I loved the way the pink crept over her cheeks. No doubt she was thinking about what we’d done last night.

It was a pleasant thought, a memory I intended to add to this morning. But first, I wanted to check on her.

“How are you feeling?”

“I’m good.”

“I didn’t hurt you last night, did I? You aren’t feeling sore, right?”

She shook her head. “You didn’t hurt me. And I wouldn’t call it sore. But I can definitely still feel you there. Between my legs.”

The blush remained on her cheeks as she tucked her chin toward her chest. That shy side was adorable, and it might’ve led me to working on breaking her out of her shell a bit, but I noticed there was something else lingering.

Curiosity.

“What’s going on?” I asked. “You look like you have something on your mind.”

She smiled again. “We’re spending the day together.”

If I had my way, we’d be doing most of it in this bed, too. “I know,” I said.

“Well, I was thinking that it might be nice to get the day off on the right foot,” she shared, squirming beside me.
