Chapter 9:

Daisy

Life was a whirlwind. Headed back to the farm, so little time to talk to Ryzer about the bonkers invitation he made. It didn’t even phase Dee-Dee or any of the boys when he announced that part of her family was on their way. Even if every single person showed up, they had plenty of room. And plenty of use for them. Then, after unpacking, they still ended up on their hands and knees in the barn anyway. Scrub, scrub, scrub; she’d never been so sick of tiny brushes and soap in her life. Despite the ache in her shoulders and the pain in her shins from knocking them into things while cleaning, it felt good to spend time with just her thoughts. Her mother made it clear they were coming, and it was a good idea. Aquaterra held no future for her family. They needed the money. They needed the housing. They needed the stability. Bitterroot Fields could use the entire Hausenbach family tree, she knew that.

But Ryzer was right when he said she purposely tried to forget her data pad at home to avoid the hurt. Daisy didn’t want to call because she knew her mother wouldn’t be mad about the ship. She didn’t even say ‘I told you so’. Though, that’ll come later once the wound is healed and rubbing salt in it no longer burns. Daisy was hurt because it was so obvious that she did all this out of grief. She kept that ship alive because she wasn’t ready to say goodbye to her father.

He was gone. And the galaxy decided to teach her that lesson the hard way. Her father was gone. No amount of risky piloting would bring him back. That chapter of her life, living packed in a tin can with him, being his co-pilot—it was closed. It was time to finally live for herself.

It was time to chase her own dreams and happiness.

Which was why, as she lay in her bed, staring up at the ceiling in the dark, she ignored the stiffness in her muscles. She pushed back the blankets and pushed her toes into her slippers again. In only a pair of pajama bottoms and a tank-top, she followed her heart down the hall. With a quick, swift knock, she tried not to psyche herself out of what she wanted.

Ryzer’s door creaked open before his shadow fell over her. A tiny side-lamp illuminated the pocket of space between them and made his salt and pepper hair glitter like the night’s sky. His honeyed eyes searched her face. “Evenin’, Sweets. You better not be here to try and convince me to take back my invite.”

“No, my mother would send a slipper through space and time to smack me upside the head if I did,” she giggled softly.

His lips curled up into a knowing smirk, “Good, then, what do I owe the pleasure of your company?”

“We never got to talk about that kiss,” she swallowed the lump in her throat.

“Talk about it? Or were you hoping to continue it?” His suggestion sent a shiver down her spine. Daisy curled her fists up by her side, steeling her nerve. Take your shot, Sweets. Find your happiness. Stepping toward him, he slowly retreated till she was in the middle of his darkened room. Ryzer closed the door behind her as she spun to take it in. Their rooms were so similar it was uncanny. Minus the few photos hung up along his walls and the difference in bedframe. His didn’t come with a headboard for obvious reasons.

Daisy faced him again, giddy butterflies filling the cavity in her chest. “Continue it.”

“I was hopin’ you’d say that,” he sighed with relief. A toothy grin split her face as he loomed over her. One of his hands cradled the back of her head, the light even dimmer now with his back to it. It didn’t diminish her ability to carve out the shape of his face or know those eyes were full of hunger. Something they both shared. “Tell me, sweetheart, how much can I continue that kiss? Before I lose myself in those pretty lips on yer face, I wanna know what you want. We go at yer speed.”

Oh… Oh boy. She laughed nervously. Raking fingers down the front of his sleep shirt, reveling at the sound of his tail swishing quickly behind him, she found the hem. Then her fingers ran up his stomach. It rolled under her touch. If he were capable of goose bumps, she believed he’d be covered in them. Instead, she fisted up the fur on the front of his chest and tugged lightly. His face closed in with hers but didn’t go the whole way, waiting on her answer.

A heavily bated breath fell out of her mouth before she confessed, “I want you to take me right here and now.”

“Sweet thing, you sure?” he murmured, their noses brushing in the dark.

Daisy nodded, “Ryzer, I’ve never been more sure of anything. I want you to spread me across that bed and see for yourself if I really am sweet.”

“And then?” he snickered, leading her backward. Her feet stumbled out of her slippers, across the frosty hardwood floor.

“And then I want you. All of you.”

“You must like being sore, sweetheart,” Ryzer teased as the back of her calves hit the corner of his bed.

“I consider myself a glutton for punishment,” she countered.

“That’s for damn sure.” Was all the warning she got before he hoisted her by the hips and flung her onto the bed. She skipped across the bunched-up comforter once before he crawled over her. Their hands moved in a flurry, pulling and tugging and gasping for air when removing her pajamas required their kiss to part. And it was a rough kiss. Their lips met over and out, tongues darting in and out of each other’s mouths till no fabric separated them. His palms roamed her sides, then up across her rib cage. He groaned when his fingers found her poor nipples that he’d only just brushed last night.

Unlike last night, where there had been hesitation and tenderness, spread out in his bed was pure need. The exact thing she needed. Lost to his touch, her mind raced to keep up instead of worrying about the fact she didn’t know what she was doing. Thankfully, Ryzer took control. A hand spared to her hair, forcing her chin up and exposing her neck. He kissed down her jugular to her collar bone before nipping around her chest. She barely caught her breath before his tongue flicked against her nipples. Her left foot kicked out only to settle around his hips. Or as close to it as she could get.

He was thick. Heavy. Firm. Like a warm, fluffy mountain weighing her down into the cushiony mattress. He lay on her enough to feel him move, to feel every brush of his body as he traveled downwards. But there was enough space to move her arms, her legs, to wrap around him and rake her heels up his back as he kissed down her stomach. It flipped inside out as his hot kisses tormented the sensitive skin near her thighs. In a moment her ankles were against his shoulder blades and that long, broad tongue of his swiped through her curls.

“Fuh-fuck,” she gasped, wrapping a fist around a horn, while the other dug into the sheets.

He snickered, but there were no witty remarks as he dragged his tongue deeper through her desire. When he lapped at her clit, her eyes rolled back in her head. Oh, I see why they write about this. How have I waited this long to have someone’s face between my thighs? Electricity ran up her nervous system. She was a live wire, full of red flashing lights and alarms as he sucked on her clit. Hips rolling for him till he was forced to hold her down with a forearm draped over her stomach.

Daisy wasn’t much in the way of making noise. Just the ragged sound of her sucking in sharp breaths and letting it out in choppy puffs, the loudest sound was the steady groaning of the bed as the wooden legs rocked with her body. White spots formed behind her lids and suddenly, the stars exploded. Relief rushed through her and cool mint kissed all over her slightly damp skin. Daisy blinked away dizziness as her orgasm washed over her.

Ryzer pushed up, licking his chops greedily. She couldn’t help the giddy giggle that spilled out of her. “Hungry boy.”

“Oh, I’m a glutton for sweet treats,” he snickered, crawling up her body. “Now…about that punishment you wanted.”
