“At our house.”
My breath caught at her words.
Our house. Not yours.Ours.
I kept waiting for her to realise that I wasn’t a good man, that I hurt people, and that she didn’t want her son around someone like me. So, when she said our house, it hit me hard.
Kate immediately flushed after she said it, like she thought she’d crossed a line. “I just meant?—”
“Kate.”
She stopped talking, her cheeks a beautiful shade of red.
I stepped closer, Noah balanced easily against my chest while my free hand slid around her waist.
“It is your house,” I said. “Always has been.”
Her breath caught.
“You’re my old lady,” I added, voice rougher now. “You and Noah, that’s it for me.”
Emotion flashed across her face so fast, it almost took me out at the knees.
“This is for you,” I said, clicking my fingers to the prospect who had followed me in.
He quickly stepped forward and handed Kate the largest of the two bags he was carrying.
She peered inside with a confused expression and seemed even more confused when she pulled out the leather jacket.
I handed Noah off to Lucy, who had come to watch our little interaction with a gleeful smile.
“It’s for you to wear, Kate,” I told her, taking it from her and holding it out for her to try it on. “This will tell everyone that you’re mine.”
I stepped back to admire her. Her whole face lit up as she checked herself out in the mirror behind the bar.
She looked good in it, so good that my cock hardened.
Noah grabbed at my arm, and I huffed a laugh before turning towards him.
“Got something for you too, little man.”
The prospect tossed me the small bag. Kate watched as I opened it and pulled out a tiny black fleece jacket.
It was custom stitched with ‘DEAD KNIGHTS MC’ across the back, ‘NOAH’ underneath, then, in smaller letters, ‘GHOST JR.’
Lucy burst into tears. “Oh, my God.”
“It’s because he’s the smallest Dead Knight,” Keno muttered from the bar. “Little shit needed proper colours.”
Kate seemed close to tears too as I carefully slid Noah’s tiny arms into the sleeves.
The thing drowned him completely.
Perfect.
Maria took a photo immediately while everyone in the room started talking over each other.
“Looks better in the patch than Finn ever did.”
