She shrugs. “Maybe we can keep you longer this time. Gage is settled. It’s looking like Dodge will be next. Who knows, maybe you’ll find someone.”

Daisy leaves with another one of her flirty winks, and I sit on the edge of my bed before collapsing onto the mattress. I guess it should say something that she didn’t even consider Bri as someone to settle down with.

The problem is that the only woman I’m interested in may be even more unattainable than my flighty ex. I don’t get long to sit in my tortured thoughts.

“Hey dick!” Viper bangs on my door. I’d know that voice anywhere.

I open it, pushing my increasingly disturbing feelings away, and nod at him.

“Gotta do some shit. Need a day, or ready to help with your job?”

I chuckle at him, used to his grumpy ass. The only one who has ever managed to soften him up is Mik, and that’s because her mind is devious. “Can you gimme five to wash off?”

His nose wrinkles.

I shove him out my doorway. “Wash off the road, dickwad. Don’t be a hypocrite anyway. I can smell Lacey’s lotion on you.”

He grins just as I slam the door and take a quick shower.

“Fuck this junk. Piece of shit.”

I snort at Viper’s bitching, leaning against the wall next to the ladder he’s straddling. “Want me to take over?”

“I want you to shut the fuck up,” he snaps back, tossing the camera’s box toward me. I catch it and chuck in the trash, glancing around the restaurant and the empty street through the windows.

“These the new ones Cowen wanted us to swap out?” I ask.

Viper grunts. “Yeah, something about clarity. Whatever the princess wants.”

“And in all the businesses?”

The ladder clinks and clatter as he climbs down, and gives me an annoyed look. “Yeah, all of them. Got somewhere to be?”

I shake my head, a smirk lifting on my lips. “Nope. Do you? You’re a little more grumpy than usual.”

“Got my ass chewed out the other day. Mik slipped my watch. Shaw acts like we didn’t lose Mik for half her teenage years. You think a baby’s slowing her down? Delusional.”

Laughing, I pick up another camera box as Viper carries the ladder across the restaurant so we can get to the back alley.

Mik is our prez’s old lady, who just so happens to also be in a relationship with our old prez too. I don’t know how Gage and Shaw do it, but it works for them. We don’t think about it too hard.

Hell, the rest of us share the women of the club constantly. She also has a spirit that keeps us all on our toes.

“They’re just protective because of the baby, especially with Dillion being a newborn and all that.”

Viper throws me an annoyed look. “No shit, but I’m the enforcer. If I can’t keep an eye on her, who will?”

“What about a prospect? Fox has been solid. He can shadow both of us when you’re with Mik.”

He shrugs. “Maybe. There’s something going on that’s making us all uneasy. I get why Gage wouldn’t want a prospect. Don’t be surprised if Dodge puts you on Autumn.”

And I wouldn’t be. He seems obsessed with his nanny, from the brief glance I got at the bar. Dodge is already really protective of his daughter, I can only imagine how bad it is when there’s two of them he needs to protect.

“You think those fucks are going to cause more trouble?”

Viper shrugs. “I mean, Dodge’s cousin was into shady shit last year when we killed him. Cowen doesn’t share all the details, but I know it isn’t good when Gage is keeping Mik contained in their house or the club.”
