And, if he was correctly reading Jayd Cimarron’s face in this moment, it was the sure, strict stone that she needed too.
He waited as she struggled to vocalize it. And fuck, he’d wait all night if he had to.
“I…I want what I saw…back there…in the dungeon,” she finally stammered out. “What I watched…the other people…doing.”
Just like that, he was swallowing around hitching breath too. Wasn’t a weakness he liked showing when slipping into his Dominant space, but nothing—nothing—about being with this gorgeous sprite was a normal thing. And that felt fine. More than fine. Holy God, it felt fantastic.
“And you want some of that…with me?”
More gulping on his part as the tiniest of smiles teased at her plush mouth. “Any and all of it,” she whispered. “And only with you…Sir.”
Fuck.
Him.
No more gulping now. His throat was too dry. His blood was too hot. His mind was too full of burgeoning comprehensions—and thundering conclusions.
The woman really had been flirting.
And then given her sincere truth.
And now was combining both—with heart-stopping resplendence.
It was no exaggeration.
His heart…
…n…o…t…w…o…r…k…i…n…g…
He staggered backward. His balance was gone. His senses were spinning.
Fate had either given him his fondest submissive dream or the one woman who’d dynamite his caves of sanity down to rubble. Perhaps both.
Probably both.
Right now, he didn’t care about sorting it out.
He was too consumed with the words that flooded his throat and then tidal-waved past his lips. Words that had never felt more right to growl in his entire existence.
“Then get on your knees, sweet girl.”
Chapter Seven
Jayd longed to burst into a grateful sob. It would be an extension of the joy that screamed through her heart, encouraged by the affirmation of her soul.
This was right. So very, very right. An answer to all the restlessness of her mind, anxiety in her soul, and insecurity in her psyche. A way to suck it all out, replacing her constant turbulence with the beautiful solemnity of ceding to this man. Oh yes, exactly like this. Surrendering herself to him. Giving him all of it…
“Good girl.” His baritone flowed through her, strong yet silken as the hand he stroked over her head. “Stay like that, Pixie. Back straight. Eyes forward. Knees set at the width of your shoulders…for now.”
For now? What on earth did he mean by that?
“Attention on me, Jayd.” There was a bite in his tone, as if the thoughts had flowed through her brain and across his palm. “On us. On this. Understand?”
She nodded, but the thought flow was pushed back her direction just as fast. She was aware of his order before he even cleared his throat with gruff impatience. Out loud, girl. “Yes, Sir,” she stated. “I understand.”
“Perfect,” Brickham soothed, and she yearned to tilt her head and rest it in his palm. She refrained as he spoke again. “Before we go any further, I have to ask you some questions. And again, I demand your full honesty for the answers.”
“Of course. I mean—ermmm—yes, Sir.”
