I blink."...what is all this?"
Liam spreads both arms as though presenting a prize on a game show.
"Rehabilitation."
I stare at him. "That doesn't answer the question."
"It answers all questions."
Coach walks past him carrying two grocery bags.
"We're coming in."
"You didn't ask."
Coach doesn't even slow down. "No."
"You can't just…"
"We can."
He disappears into the kitchen.
Colby lifts another box from the back of his truck.
"I brought groceries."
"I have groceries."
"You had ketchup."
"I had other things."
"You had expired yogurt."
I point toward him. "You went through my refrigerator?"
"You left your spare key with me."
"That wasn't permission."
"It became permission."
Behind him Toby climbs out of the Jeep.
Two enormous black labradors explode into the snow.
I stare. "...dogs?"
"They're foster dogs."
One of them immediately spots me. Its entire body wiggles.
Before Toby can grab the leash, the dog bounds straight toward the porch.
