“Nothing, nigga,” I spat rudely, slamming his door shut before switching off towards the music.
“And you need to throw these little ass shorts away too!” Will said, coming up behind me trying to pull my shorts down.
I swatted at his hands, I didn’t see the problem with my outfit. I had on light denim shorts with a white fitted sleeveless shirt, brown slides with the matching bucket hat, and purse. I was cute without doing too much. I wasn’t trying to impress nobody in Will’s family.
“You need to kiss my ass.” I flipped him off as he walked ahead of me.
“Anytime, baby girl.” He looked back at me winking, and I groaned, following him.
We walked to the park shelter that was filled with people. I saw the “Welcome Home” decorations that led up to the shelter. Instantly, I got pissed.
“Nigga, this don’t look like no fucking birthday for your mom!” I snapped, pulling Will back by his arm.
“Man. Her party is next week, but I wanted you to come with me today. My pops throwin’ my brother a welcome home party. He just got out. I knew you wouldn’t have come if I just asked you to pull up with me.”
It took everything in me not to slap fire from Will’s stupid ass. “Boooy, take me the fuck home noow!” Will had me fucked all the way up. I wasn’t fucking with him or his jailbird ass brother. Both them niggaS could jump off a cliff holding hands for all I cared. I only came with Will off the strength of his mama.
“Please, Yanna, do me this last favor, and I’ll leave you alone forever. I done bragged on yo’ ass so much these niggas don’t think you real. I told them I was finna bring you, and my brother said if you as bad as I claimed, he gon’ put me on.”
I poked my lips out. I can't lie, he stroked my little ego knowing Will was out here bragging on me like I was the baddest bitch in the world. Pressing my lips together, I rolled my eyes knowing I wasn’t going nowhere. I wanted whoever these niggas where to see I was the in fact baddest in the room.
“I guess.” I faked an attitude waving Will off. He looked so happy as he grabbed my hand, leading me into the sea of people.
I saw a few familiar faces that I'd seen over Will’s parents house, but I really didn’t know Will’s family that well, aside from his parents and younger brother, Maxwell, those were the main people I’d been around. After greeting Mrs.Connie and reassuring her I would be at her party next week, which was a lie I made my way back beside Will. I had to fight to keep myself from frowning. I couldn't spend another day around Will faking it. As soon as we got an audience, he started doing the most, wanting to kiss and touch me. I had to keep pushing his hands off of me. The nigga was getting way too comfortable.
“Daddy, where everybody at?” Will asked, and I was assuming he was talking about his brother and other young people. The people in this shelter were the older crowd.
“You see that shelter over there?” His dad pointed across the park to another shelter with a gang of niggas. “They went over there. Grannie didn’t like the music and the weed.”
“Alright, bet,” Will eagerly replied, taking my hand, pulling me with him.
I don’t know why, but I felt knots forming in my stomach the closer we got to the other shelter. The scent of weed lingered in the air heavily, and the rap music became clearer and clearer. I felt my palms sweating, and I wanted to snatch my hand from Will’s, but he had a tight grip on my hand as we approached a group of niggas a few feet from the shelter. Seeing all the niggas looking like money had me curious which one was Will’s brother. All of them were easy on the eyes, dressed in various name brands, all of them wearing jewelry covered in diamonds. My nose turned up at the half naked females lingering around the shelter doing the most to get one of the nigga’s attention. It was clear none of them were invited to the party, but that didn’t stop the thirsty birds from flocking.
“Gah damn. Yo’ perpin’ ass wasn’t lying, was you?” A brown skinned nigga was the first to speak to us. This nigga couldn’t be Will’s brother because they looked nothing alike. He disrespectfully eyed me, and I rolled my eyes at his rude ass.
“Tition, stop playin’, you know I don’t gotta reason to lie. My bitch certified.”
“Watch your mouth, Will,” I scoffed at Will. Yeah, him and these niggas were finna get cussed out.
“Fine and feisty,” the nigga Tition said, unbothered by my attitude.
“Nigga, chill. That’s why you got all them kids now,” Will said uneasily.
“Shit, I always got room for one more. Come on so we can show them niggas you wasn’t lying.” Titon nodded his head for us to follow him.
I frowned, wondering what exactly Will did when I wasn’t around. This nigga was acting like Will went around putting on about stuff. I never took Will as the lame type who had to lie, but what did I know? I never thought he was the type to fuck my cousin but here we were.
“Will here,” Tition’s tone came off as sneaky, and it had me cutting my eyes in his direction. I scoffed at him focusing my attention on the niggas under this shelter.
When I tell you everything in me wanted to disappear when I locked eyes with Niko. I could hear my heart beating through my ears. It was hammering so loud in my chest. Out of all the fucking people in this city, I had to run into Niko. I wanted to vomit seeing a petite brown skinned female sitting in his lap. Seeing they wore color coordinated outfits, wearing all white, had me ready to pour red kool-aid all over both of them. Then Niko had the audacity to look at me like he was pissed as if I did something wrong.
Will grabbed me by the hand pulling me in front of him, and I felt all eyes on us. I refused to make eye contact with Niko, but I felt the heat from his stare.
“Bae, this my brother, Niko, his girl, Madison…” Will kept talking, but I had completely tuned him out after he said Niko was his brother.
This couldn’t have been my life right now. I fucked Will’s brother. I had to get the hell out of here. If this wasn’t a sign that Niko wasn’t it for me, I didn’t know what was. I was cutting ties with Niko, Will, and anyone else associated with their family.
I gave a fake hi to everyone as I planned my escape. I assumed Niko’s little girlfriend didn’t realize who I was because she waved at me too. I supposed she was cute, nothing special, brown skinned, black eyes, she had a pretty face. I was no hater, but she wasn’t me, but whatever made that nigga happy I guess. It was a chore to keep myself from not frowning. I wanted to lay hands on Niko’s stupid ass. Wearing the same colors as another bitch. He had me fucked up, that was our fucking thing. I needed to get out of here before I acted a fool.
