“No.”
Kane steps beside me and looks at the screen.
His cap is still backward.
His expression is far too satisfied.
“They spelled your name correctly this time.”
“That is not the problem.”
“Debate Bae is bad.”
“Thank you.”
“Could’ve been H&T again.”
I shove my laptop into my bag.
“You enjoyed that.”
“The debate?”
“The entire class watching you turn an academic presentation into a mating ritual.”
His grin appears.
“You kept up.”
“I was trying to pass.”
“You were trying to win.”
“So were you.”
He reaches past me and picks up the pencil I snapped before the presentation.
“Maybe.”
“What does that mean?”
Kane holds the broken pencil between us.
“It means I stopped caring about the grade around the time you admitted we kissed twice.”
My face heats.
“I did not admit that voluntarily.”
“You admitted it publicly.”
“Because you baited me.”
“You took it.”
I reach for the pencil.
He holds it above my head.
