He buries himself inside me and pauses. I’m a whimpering mess—because it shouldn’t be this hot, the violence in his voice, but it is, and my body vibrates with pure ecstasy.
“No one will ever touch you like this again.” He leans against my back, his warm chest sticking to my sweat-slicked skin. “Or so help me, this whole damn world will suffer the consequences.”
He takes my jaw and forces my head to turn over my shoulder. His mouth crashes into mine, biting and sucking my bottom lip as he fucks me rougher than before. The hand around my throat tightens just enough to make the room tilt. My nails dig into the headboard when his free hand slips between my thighs.
“Mine to keep safe,” he growls through the bond, lips still on mine. “Mine to fuck. Mine to feed from.”
“Y-Yes… yes, Kayn… yes! I’m coming—please!”
His cock thickens inside me, and when he slaps my clit, my body detonates in another climax I couldn’t stop even if I tried. It crashes over me in a harsh wave just as a heavy fullness floods my stomach.
He groans into my mouth, and I swear he just keeps coming. The pressure alone makes my entire body tremble.
“Gods… please…” I pant against his lips.
He chuckles, dragging his mouth from my cheek to the shell of my ear, then down my neck. “Again, little slayer, don’t call for your God while you’re in bed with me.” His tongue draws slow circles around the puncture marks from his fangs. He doesn’t suck, and I’m not sure what exactly he’s doing—but fuck, it feels good.
After a moment, he slides out of me. He doesn’t hesitate to grab me and settle me onto my back.
He slides his arm under my head and wraps it around my back, pulling me flush to his chest. I’m engulfed in his embrace, and there is absolutely nowhere in this world I would ever feel safer than in his arms, like this.
I drag my knee up to his hip to be closer. My hands tuck between us, cupped beneath my breasts, while he rests his chin on top of my head.
His free hand does a slow trail up and down my arm. It’s no surprise exhaustion hits fast and heavy. I actually yawn.
“Can I share something with you?” he whispers, his nails drawing slow circles at the center of my back.
“Mhmm.”
“I understand now what you meant when you said our names are sacred. When you say mine… it makes my heart feel mortal again.”
I close my eyes and press my face against his chest, hiding the sudden sting behind my eyes.
“So, no Butcher then?” I try to say as if his words didn’t just cause my own heart to burst.
“Definitely not.” His chest rises with an unnecessary breath, and through the bond I feel a flicker of fear. “I promise to never break it, Amarah.”
“Hmm?” I hum, too tired to fully grasp the meaning.
“Your trust. I’ll keep that safe, too. Just like your body. Your mind. Your heart…”
Oh, Kayn…
I want him to know how much I believe him—how he’s proven, over and over, even long before tonight, that he’s worthy of my trust. But the words won’t come. And though I could send the thought through the bond, I hope the emotions flooding our connection are enough to tell him what I feel.
“Good night, little slayer.”
The last thing I feel is his kiss on the top of my head before darkness and silence hollow out my mind.
Chapter 32
She slept like the dead.
I spent the entire night watching her—listening to the steady cadence of her heart, playing with her long white hair.
At one point I got hard again and nearly forgot myself and took her while she slept. But we haven’t had that conversation yet. What her limits are, that is. The last thing I want is to draw a line she isn’t ready to cross or stir up memories of her time in Thornegate.
When she finally stirred, I quickly shut my eyes, feigning sleep. I think she looked at me for a moment, but I held the act, letting her have that quiet curiosity. I like that she wants to look, because, let’s be honest, she’s right. I am full of myself.
