Damn, we really ought to figure out what an assistant is actually supposed to do.

Lots of our teammates have them. Maybe I can ask one of them for suggestions so that Trevor actually has some real work to do.

They can't all be picking out furniture and washing mascot uniforms in secret... right?

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Mia

The only room in our new home that's complete is the nest, and I don't even care.

In fact, this is perfect.

This is the last missing piece of the puzzle for us. The only thing standing between us and the consummation of our scent match. They wanted us to be in our own home, and here we are. There's even a bed only a few feet away.

But something about that doesn't seem right.

I had enough hot flashes while watching their game earlier tonight to know my heat is coming. There's going to be plenty of time to get comfortable in my new nest. Until then...

There's a different idea forming in the back of my mind. Something that would let us celebrate this next phase of our lives without prematurely getting down and dirty in the nest. We have an entire building full of different rooms.

Who says sex has to be confined to the bedroom? Not me. That's for damn sure.

Looking at Spencer, Zak, and Freddie, I can feel the sparkle in my eyes as I ask them, "Anyone happen to have any rope?"

"There might be some in the trunk of the car," Zak offers immediately.

I have a feeling it's not there by accident. Looks like the pack better get ready for round two of rope play, and this time, no one has to bring any self-control to the party. I'm ready to see my two alphas and beta lose all their inhibitions.

Spencer, Freddie, and I are waiting in the dining hall when Zak returns from retrieving the rope he did, indeed, have in the trunk of his car. He holds the length of rope up triumphantly as he walks in to join us.

The excitement between all of us is palpable.

After shoving a few chairs out of my way, I climb up on the nearest table and beckon Zak closer with the rope. Before I can lie back, though, Spencer clears his throat and steps in between Zak and me.

"Wait," he says, pointing his words at Zak but turning to face me. His gaze looks me over in an assessing way. "There are a few logistics to take care of before we do take this step."

Freddie groans loudly, the sound echoing in the partially furnished dining room.

Spencer pauses to shoot him a dirty look before continuing on, "As much as we'd all like to breed you, it's probably smart if we–"

"Make time to know each other better first," I finish for him, having already thought of the same thing. I nod reassuringly. "I have a birth control implant that's still good for about another year. In a few months, we can talk about whether I need to have it replaced or removed."

"Removed. Definitely removed," Zak mutters under his breath.

I bite my lip to keep from smiling. I'm leaning towards having it removed then, too.

Spencer nods, then hesitates.

"What else?" I smile encouragingly, wanting to make sure we cover whatever he needs to make him feel comfortable enough to be in the moment with us. He doesn't need to be distracted by anything once I'm naked and tied to this table.

"I know we essentially just met each other, and everyone has different ideas about how quickly scent-match relationships should move. Your heat is coming on quickly, and we made sure your nest was usable. That leaves one big question left for us to ask: What are your thoughts on being bonded?"

My heart soars.

I didn't want to push the issue, but I've been waiting for this conversation to come. My smile widens. We've already dealt with the very difficult situation of me hating their home, and they've handled it with such care and grace. Knowing we can work on solutions together is great reassurance that we'll be good partners.

So, "why wait?" I shrug both shoulders. My smile is so big it's making my cheeks ache. That seems to happen a lot since I met them.
