Jeremy nodded. He lovedhanging out before the plays. “I’ve gone to one of the plays everysummer, but somehow this year I hadn’t even thought of ityet.”

“Well, it’s a good thing Imentioned it then,” Sabrina said. “Connor can pick you up since theparking gets tight.”

Jeremy looked at Connor, who had a panicked expression. “You don—”

“I—”

“Don’t argue,” Sabrinaordered.

Neither of themdid.

CHAPTER SEVEN

Connor fumed ashe drove back to his apartment. What the hell was Sabrina doing? She knew, didn’t she. She knew he was gay and that Jeremy waspushing all his buttons. There was no other explanation for why shewas so eager to get Jeremy to go out with her, or ratherwith them.

Jeremy mentioned that heloved the play before she invited him.

So what? She’s trying toset me up.

When they’d both parked atConnor’s apartment complex, he jumped out of the car. “What wereyou thinking?”

Sabrina smiled, allinnocence. “What do you mean?”

“Asking Jeremy to go withus tomorrow?”

“Us? You said you wouldn’tgo. I asked him to accompany me and my friend.”

Connor scowled at her.“That’s beside the point. He’s a client.”

“No fraternizing with theclients? Is that a rule now?”

“I…”

“Even if it is, does itreally include inviting them to a free public performance ofShakespeare?”

“Dammit!” Connor hated whenshe talked sense. Now he’d probably given himself away.

“He really bothers you,doesn’t he?”

“What do you mean?” Connordoubted he was fooling her.

“He’s like your polaropposite.”

“What? Smart? Educated?Understands poetry? Yeah I guess he is.” Jeremy couldn’t be morewrong for him.

“No, you asshole. He’s softand clumsy and quiet.”

Was that really what shethought, that Connor didn’t like him? Had she not guessed, not seenthe way he couldn’t take his eyes of Jeremy? “I’mquiet.”

Sabrina quirked her mouthand raised a brow. “Only when you’re pissed.”

“No, I’m pissed off rightnow, and I’m definitely not quiet. In fact, I’m doing everything Ican not to yell at you.”

Sabrina studied him muchtoo closely. “Why don’t you want him there?”

“It’s not that Idon’t—”

“Then what isit?”
