“What’s your real name?”

“Are you asking for ID? I thought we had a deal.”

“I’d assume any ID you’re carrying would be fake.”

He shrugged. “True.”

“So tell me your name?”

“G is enough, at least until we’re better acquainted.”

“You know I’m going to find out everything about you as soon as you walk out that door.”

“Go ahead and try.” I was sure he meant to sound threatening, but his gaze fell to my lips, and his eyes widened. I licked my lips, and he followed the movement of my tongue.

“Are you going to kiss me or just keep thinking about it?”

He huffed. “Arrogant, aren’t you?”

“Yes, but I’ve seen how you’re watching me. A good, rough hate fuck would be enjoyable for both of us.”

“You want to get me distracted so I’ll give up more about myself.”

I shook my head. “You’re wrong, Gideon. You don’t need to talk at all.”

He raised his brows. “Not my name, and are you actually planning to be silent?”

“Is that what you’re into? I could, but would you really want me completely silent? Either way, I wouldn’t be questioning you. I like to keep fucking and business separate.”

“And yet you’re propositioning me.”

I chose to ignore that. He was right. I’d lost my mind. “Giovani, if you really wanted silence, I guess you could gag me. I don’t really trust you, but what the hell. I’ve done worse, and—” I looked him up and down. “—you’re hot enough.”

“Not my name. You really are as crazy as they say. You’re going to get yourself killed one day.”

I grinned. “Almost inevitably.”

I press the button on my desk to summon the security guards. Maybe I wasn’t all that crazy after all.

Icalled Maria as I drove to the apartment she’d arranged for me. “I’m in.”

She sighed.

“What? Did you want me to fail?”

“No. Yes. Fuck, I don’t know. This is a bad idea, and it could compromise the whole investigation.”

Did she have to be so fucking negative? “No, it won’t. I’m trying to find a link that will bring down Ivanov.”

“Are you, or do you really want to be the one to end the Theriots’ power?”

“Can’t I want both?” I asked, blowing through a light as it turned red.

“Not if you want to focus on the current objective.”
