Exactly where she belongs.
“Are you having fun?”
“Mm… but it could be better.”
She grins. Her hands slide down to my chest, and then back to my shoulders. “You’re very tall.”
“I’m aware.”
She leans in and whispers in my ear, “And you keep looking at me.”
“Because I can’t look away, baby.”
She laughs, and it's a loose warm laugh.
She presses her body against me and I put my arm around her waist. She tips her face up and kisses me.
I let it run for three seconds. Four. Her hands are in my hair and she tastes like whatever she has been drinking, something sweet, and the bar is loud around us but the noise has gone distant and irrelevant.
I pull back.
She chases me half an inch, eyes still closed.
“Riley… sweetheart.”
“Mm...”
“Time to go home.”
She opens her eyes. “We just got here.”
“You’re kissing me in a bar full of people, sweetheart. And you’re not going to like it tomorrow.”
She glances sideways. She looks back at me. A small smile.
“They can watch.”
She kisses me again, going deeper this time, and I can’t resist.
Christ.
I need to take her home now.
“Come on, baby. I’ll give you whatever you want when we get home.”
“Promise?”
“I’m all yours till whenever,” I whisper against her lips and that seems to work. She finally pulls away.
I help her to her feet.
We say the necessary goodbyes, which Wyatt makes unnecessarily theatrical.
I get her jacket and hold it out for her. She slides her arms in, and I hold her hand to lead her out.
I get her to the car. I hold the passenger door, and she gets in, and I walk around to the driver’s side and get in. Before I have the key in the ignition, she's already unbuckling her seatbelt and sliding across the console.
“Riley.”
