“I am, but I did have one little thing to show you,” she said, taking his hand and leading him through the house into the clinic. She took him behind the cages they’d left out from the wall, typed in the code, and stared at Tack’s face as his mouth dropped open.
“What the…” he sputtered.
“Dad found the treasure when I was ten. It’s been here the whole time. He was going to give it to me at our five-year anniversary of working together. He also wrote me a sweet note,” she said.
Tack pulled her into his arms. “I’m sorry, babe. I know it’s great finding the treasure, but I’m guessing it brings up a lot of grief with him and your mom both gone.”
She leaned back against Tack’s warm, comforting chest. She had it all but them. Their death had left a hole that would never completely heal, and she wouldn’t push herself not to grieve. Grief was a natural part of life. Instead, she’d focus on all the good things she had, and maybe someday it wouldn’t hurt quite so much.
“I love you, Tack, and I know both my parents would be happy I have you in my life. Now, take me on this date you keep bragging about. You’re not on call, are you? Because leaving for that would suck, unless… it meant I got to see you in those tight SWAT pants that hug your thighs,” she teased, grinning at him.
“C’mon, Trouble. We’re picking up some Chinese food because Lake said you’d been craving it, and then we’re heading to the Loews Hotel downtown. I plan on having you in one of the rooms there until someone complains about your screaming. When you’re sated, we’ll stay the night, and then tomorrow, I’ll take you book shopping. Does that meet your expectations for an acceptable date?” he checked, leading her out to his bike and helping her put her helmet on.
“Umm, clothes for tomorrow?” she wondered, waiting until he was on the bike before getting on behind him.
“Lake and Freedom checked us in and dropped a bag there with all they thought you’d need. Now hold on, babe,” he instructed before pulling out onto the street.
She would definitely hold on because Ryder “Tack” Lawson was the man for her.
“Hold on to the headboard, babe,” Tack directed.
Sophia shivered. His tone lit a fire down below that she knew he’d quench—when he quit teasing her. He’d been building her up and then backing off when he thought she was close.
Her thighs were drenched, and her pussy ached to have him inside her.
“Tack, please,” she pleaded.
He cocked his eyebrow, staring at her from between her legs, his warm breath moving over her core without actually touching her. She rolled her eyes and grasped the headboard.
“That’s my good girl,” Tack crooned, his lips caressing her mound, trailing up her stomach until he reached her breast.
“You are so sexy and such a good girl letting me play this evening,” he murmured against her nipple before sucking it into his mouth.
She arched, moaning. “If this doesn’t end with me coming, this will be the last evening you get to play,” she threatened.
He chuckled against her breast before nipping and kissing up her chest and neck until he reached her lips. He settled between her legs and paused.
“With or without a condom? How soon do you want babies?” he asked.
She shivered. Just the thought of having him put a baby in her had her aching more. She swallowed, reaching up to kiss his cheek. “Without. I want your baby, Ryder,” she said.
He grinned at her, his eyes lighting at her answer. He notched himself at her entrance, sliding his hand to hold her cheek. “Love you, Sophia,” he said, pushing steadily inside her until he filled her completely. His teasing for the last hours had her on a hair trigger. Her walls were pulsing so close to coming.
She stared in his eyes as he pulled out and thrust in, setting a rhythm that had her shaking and trembling as he finally let her come. He groaned a second later, and she wrapped her legs around his hips as his cock jerked inside her, filling her.
She hoped that they’d made a baby tonight because she’d love to be a mother next year, but if they didn’t, they’d have fun trying. He kissed her lips, moving off her and pulling her onto his shoulder. She cuddled close and closed her eyes. Tack would keep her safe.
Chapter Twenty-Two
Sophia focused on calmly walking into the clubhouse, fighting the urge to skip through to where Tack was. He’d had Church, and then he’d said he and Justice were going to work out.
It had been a month since they’d made love at the hotel. So many things had happened. Adley had agreed to be the lawyer for Rufus and Jolene on the condition that they agreed to the plea bargain she worked out with the District Attorney and gave up the name of who had sent them. Since in their statements they’d admitted to planning and killing her parents, plus numerous other things, the sentencing was going to be stiff. Sophia didn’t care because she’d never have to see them again.
Once Cuffs had dug into them, the club had found they were wanted in multiple states for fraud, identity theft, and burglaries. If they were ever eligible for parole, there were plenty of other states waiting for their turn. In fact, a couple states were actively pursuing having Rufus and Jolene stand trial in their states first.
She and Tack were looking through house plans to find the perfect one for them. With them planning a family, they were going to split their time between the club and her farmhouse until their house was built. Although Tack offered to have them live in both places, Sophia wanted a home at the compound. She’d keep her bedroom at the farmhouse so they could stay over sometimes, and she could lay down during the day if she needed it.
With the test in her pocket, she could see needing naps at work. She was also going to look at taking on another vet like she’d considered. She’d still work but she would decrease her hours. She wanted to be home with her kids to watch them grow.
