Rook saw the walls around her shift.

Not fall.

But move.

For one heartbeat, she looked less like a weapon and more like a woman who had carried too much alone.

Then the armor returned.

“We don’t have time for this.”

“Make time.”

“I came to warn you.”

“About who?”

“The person inside the fourth SUV.”

Rook’s body went still.

“You know who it was?”

“Yes.”

“Give me a name.”

She glanced toward the harbor entrance.

The movement was small.

Urgent.

“They tracked the surveillance team back to Alaska.”

“How?”

“I don’t know yet.”

“Who are they sending?”

“Everyone.”

Rook took another step.

Only a few feet separated them now.

“Who are you?”

For the first time, the woman smiled.

A sad smile.

A tired smile.

One carrying years of secrets.
