“And if I do this?” She took me all the way to the back of her throat, her eyes watering during the first attempt.
“Oh, God.”
“Mm,” she hummed, making me feel the vibration reverberate up my spine.
“Do it again. Relax your throat, breathe through your nose.”
She enthusiastically did as instructed, taking me even deeper with the second try. Then the third.
“Yes, exactly like that.” One of her hands worked my length along with her mouth while the other caressed my balls. Jesus, I wouldn’t last under the double assault. “If you don’t stop, I’m going to come.”
“I may be new at this, but isn’t that the point?”
My laughter filled the room. I’d never associated sex with playfulness and humor, but with Chloe, the combination was intoxicating.
She grinned before doubling down in her efforts causing my breath to hiss between my clenched teeth.
Briefly, her sweet lips left my erection to lavish my balls with more attention.
I muttered a string of curses, needing to count in my mind to keep from blowing my load right then and there.
But once her mouth slid down my shaft again, I was a goner. “Stop if you don’t want to swallow,” I managed to mutter.
I was more than pleased when she didn’t so much as pause but instead sucked me dry as if it was her mission on this earth.
Then, instead of hopping out of bed like I would’ve expected to rinse her mouth or brush her teeth, she crawled up my body, kissing my abs and chest.
“That was a hell of a good morning.”
She giggled. “You were a good teacher. Now you have something to think about every morning when I come into your office. Because this girl is not fired.”
I grinned, kissing her lips. “Nope. You sure aren’t.” Reid had told us about Tom doing a one-eighty during the meeting with global HR on Thursday. He’d insisted that Chloe should stay at Delmont and apologized for the misunderstanding. I was sure everyone wondered why he’d changed his mind, but I didn’t care so long as Chloe was off the hook.
“I know you’re thinking I should call my mom, but it’s not the same as telling off Tom.”
No, it wasn’t. “In my head I’ve told off my parents at least two dozen times. But in reality, I simply left home and now don’t allow them to control my decisions. But even that took time.”
She didn’t protest when I gathered her close. “I don’t have a problem sending money home for bills. Or for repairs. But the thought of her giving my money to James after everything he’s done— You know what? I wouldn’t even mind that if she was funding his rehab. But she isn’t. I think I’ll set up direct pay for some of the bills. And I could pay directly for necessary repairs—like the stove and the carpet replacement. Then maybe I could set up separate accounts for my sisters where my mom can’t touch it.”
“I mention this at the risk of getting one of your impressive uppercuts to my pretty face, but I’d like it if you held off paying me the rest of the money you say you owe me until you’ve made those repairs to your family’s house.” We’d agreed she’d pay me the ten-thousand-dollar difference between the forty grand she’d already wired me and the fifty I’d paid Donald the loan shark. I didn’t need her money, though. I didn’t want it.
She grinned, kissing me. “Nice try. I can do both. I’m getting a part-time job. Interview is tomorrow at a restaurant—and don’t worry. It’s a legitimate restaurant this time.”
I didn’t like it. For selfish reasons, I wanted all of her time. I especially wanted more time with her if my interview later this morning went well, and I moved forward with the process of leaving for Iraq.
“I’ll drive you home. Once you’re in the office, you can get started with the bank case. I have a couple of appointments, but I’ll be in later this afternoon.” I felt a little guilty about keeping my interview a secret. But if I didn’t end up taking the job, what was the harm?
Chapter Thirty-One
Aiden
My interview had gone well yesterday morning, which was why I’d made a doctor’s appointment today. I had to see one. I’d put it off long enough and wouldn’t pass my required physical next week if I couldn’t get my leg healed.
One of the benefits of living in Dubai were the many choices when it came to modern health care. But it didn’t mean I had to like it. On the plus side, the appointment took under an hour, facilitated by the delivery of all my medical records. On the negative side, the physician spent half of our time together giving me a stern lecture about the proper care of my leg. I couldn’t pretend I hadn’t deserved it.
Overdoing it in the gym had led to inflammation, which had turned into blisters and swelling. This was why my prothesis wasn’t fitting properly. Using it under these conditions would only make the whole thing worse and could lead to infection. Because of the risk, he’d prescribed some oral antibiotics and also an antibiotic cream to rub directly on the affected area.
He’d been clear I should stay off of my leg and allow it time to heal which meant I needed to work from home as much as possible over the next week. I didn’t want to put the contractor position at risk. All I had to do was pass the physical, and the job was mine.
