A one-word answer would have to do since he was already kissing me again. His hips went between my legs, widening them so he could enter me. He breached me slowly before thrusting home.
My greedy fingers scraped down the skin of his shoulders before moving lower to his muscular back.
His forearms braced his weight on either side of my head while his lips found mine again.
I wrapped my legs around him, allowing him to take me deeper. My body was soon careening towards the edge, ready to go over, when he demanded, “Open your eyes. Let me see you.”
Oh, God, the intimacy was too much. Him watching me fall apart. Yet it was also incredible to feel this connected, this in tune with him, without him hiding anything. A rush of heat shot to my core as my climax washed over me.
He followed with a groan of pleasure as he spilled his seed deep inside of me.
Chapter Thirty-Three
Chloe
Abu Dhabi was less than ninety minutes from Dubai by car. Aiden and I left early on Monday morning with the intention of going straight into the Delmont office there. Although it wasn’t necessary to stay the night, given the close proximity between the two cities, it was easier to do so. Aiden had all-day meetings, and then there was a tour and dinner scheduled for tonight.
From the back seat of the hired car, the first thing I noticed about Abu Dhabi was the breathtaking cityscape similar to Dubai. Such incredibly tall and shiny buildings, such beautiful, blue waters in contrast to the white sand. But I’d read enough to learn that Abu Dhabi, unlike Dubai, was not a tourism hot spot. It tended to be more residential and more traditional. I’d therefore chosen to wear my most conservative business suit.
I studied Aiden, wondering what was running through his mind after last night. I’d thought we’d crossed into another level of intimacy when he’d trusted me to see his leg, but he’d seemed quiet this morning. I hoped he wasn’t feeling awkward when I thought we’d made great progress.
He glanced over, giving me a wink before taking my hand. The gesture set my mind at ease. Perhaps I was imagining things, worrying for no reason.
“You tired?” he whispered.
“A little. You?” It would be no wonder since we’d been at it until the wee hours. Sex with Aiden had always been great, but with no more barriers between us, it created a new level of intimacy. After the shower last night, we’d connected in a way that gave me hope for our future. I didn’t care about his amputation. I didn’t see him as less of a man because of it. Instead, I was in awe of how he carried himself despite it. I only hoped whatever insecurities he’d once had were now gone.
“Nothing a cup of coffee won’t fix. And well worth it.”
My grin came easily. “Yes, it was.” Especially the way he’d woken me up this morning. Yeah, I could say I was fully a fan of the beard. It was a shame to see it now shaved off. Although clean-shaven Aiden wasn’t any less sexy.
We went straight into the office, which was on the eighteenth floor of a building downtown. The lobby was spectacular, but it had nothing on the view of the Persian Gulf from the conference room.
“You have meetings until three, then we’re invited on a tour of the Grand Mosque, after which we have dinner.” I stared out at the morning bustle of the capital city.
“Sounds good,” he responded.
“The office manager indicated she had a visitor’s space in which I can set up and would give me a tour of the office. If you need anything, message me. Otherwise, I’ll see you at three.”
I’d just sat down at the visitor’s desk when my cell phone rang with my mother’s number. We hadn’t spoken since I’d hung up on her. I’d avoided her two other calls, opting to wait until I was ready to have the conversation. Figuring now was as good a time as any, I answered.
“Hi, Mom.”
“I don’t like the way we left things.”
“Me, neither, but you have to understand I won’t fund James any longer. I’ll help out with some of the house and car repairs directly, and I’ll support the girls’ events, but I’m drawing the line at giving you any more money to give to him. Not after what he put us through. Not after what I endured to pay off his loan.”
“It’s hard for me to give up on him.”
As much as it was important for me to stand up for myself and follow my dreams, I found I couldn’t completely give up on James, either. “I will help pay for his rehab if he agrees to go.”
“Really?”
“Yes. But it has to be a certified program, and the money will be paid straight to them. I don’t want to give up on him, either, Mom, but simply giving him money isn’t helping him. It’s just enabling him to buy more drugs.”
“I will tell him no more help unless he agrees. You’re not moving home, are you?”
“No. I’m not.” Of that, I was certain. Instead, I was set to go back to college. I’d balanced it before with a full-time and part-time job. I’d do it again.
